TOWSON, Md. — Loud sex at a Towson Days Inn led to a police altercation and gunshots on Monday, charging documents say.According to police, a security guard called police about a potential fight at the hotel after front desk clerks overheard loud noises while on a call with a room. When officers arrived, they spoke with two women who were supposedly in the room when the commotion was heard. Both women told police they weren't fighting but were having sex.At the request of the security officer, police ordered the women to pack up and leave the hotel. One of the women thought she left a cell phone in the room, at which point an officer escorted her back to look for it. The other woman, 34-year-old Allison Daughtrey went into the lobby and began arguing with hotel staff. At that point, the security guard claims Daughtrey pointed a gun at him. While trying to disarm Daughtrey, the gun fired and struck a door frame in the lobby.A Baltimore County Police officer was outside heading back to his patrol car when he heard the gunshot. The officer returned to arrest her.Daughtey told police that the security guard hit her first and that she swung her purse at him to protect her self. She claims that's what caused the gun to fly across the room and fire.Police wrote in the charging documents that surveillance footage shows Daughtrey entering the lobby, getting into an altercation with the guard, and later pulling out a gun.Daughtrey admitted to police that the gun was hers and she bought it in North Carolina. The security guard was later taken to the hospital for an injury he says he sustained after Daughtrey bit him.Daughtrey is currently being held without bond on multiple charges including attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and gun crimes.A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 4.This story was originally published by 1890

The United States and South Korea are expected to announce in the coming days that annual military exercises between the two nations are to be scaled back, according to a US defense official. The large-scale military exercises, known as Foal Eagle and Key Resolve, had been scheduled for this spring but according to the official, they will be scaled down to a small unit level and could involve virtual training.Defense officials say they can achieve the necessary training goals through the scaled-back exercises. The announcement is expected to come soon after President Donald Trump walked away from negotiations with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Vietnam. The US has already suspended several larger military exercises as part of an effort to ease tensions with North Korea following the last year's Singapore summit between the two leaders. In a news conference following last June's summit Trump called the exercises "provocative," stating, "It's inappropriate to be having war games."Trump has also questioned the usefulness of the exercises, citing the disproportionate share of the cost borne by the US.Former Defense Secretary James Mattis told reporters last November that the 2019 version of the Foal Eagle exercise was being "reorganized a bit" to keep from "being harmful to diplomacy."On Friday Defense Department officials refused to comment publicly about the status of the joint exercises but said they will proceed unless Trump specifically orders them canceled. "The (US-South Korean) alliance remains ironclad," said Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Dave Eastburn, when asked about the exercises. "Our forces maintain a high state of military readiness and vigilance in full support of a diplomatically led effort to bring peace, prosperity and stability to the Korean Peninsula."Earlier this month the US and South Korea reached a preliminary agreement on the cost of keeping nearly 30,000 troops in South Korea.Under the revised Special Measures Agreement, South Korea would boost its financial contribution to nearly billion, according to a State Department official and South Korean media. That's an increase from the roughly 0 million it had been paying per year during the previous five-year commitment. In an early February interview with CBS, Trump said he has "no plans" to withdraw US troops from South Korea and claimed to have "never even discussed removing them," but said "maybe someday" he would withdraw US forces from the country."I mean, who knows. But, you know, it's very expensive to keep troops there," Trump said, even though US military officials have said it is cheaper to house those troops in South Korea than in the US. 2682

Tucked away in the small town of Castle Rock, Colorado is a basement full of nostalgia. When you walk into Brett Martin’s basement, you’re actually walking into a museum of video game memorabilia. “I think people think I’m nuts, but I also think they recognize the passion,” Martin says. “I am the world record holder for the largest video game memorabilia collection.” Martin was born to be a collector of video game stuff. He shares his birthday with Super Mario. “I was born in 1981, the same year Mario was,” Martin says. His basement is covered from top to bottom, full of figurines and mementos dedicated to video game characters. “I know there’s lots of video game collectors, but there’s not a lot of video game memorabilia collectors,” Martin says. “Which makes my collection pretty unique.” According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Martin was coined the largest collector of video game memorabilia in 2013. “In 2012, I had it appraised. It was around a 0,000,” the collector says. “Now, I’d argue it’s around 0,000 because the value of some of the stuff I bought has really ramped up.” Of course, people like Martin have traveled from all over the world to visit his massive collection. “So, I have a little community of collectors that have found me over the years,” Martin says. “Most of them from other countries.” However, collecting with this kind of passion is so much more. “You have to look inside yourself and realize why you’re doing it,” Martin says. “It comes from preservation, cause there’s so few of them, especially in good conditions. So, a certain part of it is historical, and a certain part of it is nostalgic.”Martin is married with four kids, and said that he hopes his collection could help his family in the future. “Going forward, I realize you can’t take the collection with you,” Martin says. 1855
