(KGTV) — A Poway woman is taking legal action against the city after she says she fell ill from drinking contaminated water.The city on Nov. 30 issued a precautionary boil advisory after residents reported brownish water coming from their faucets. Poway officials reported that a storm drain backed up into a clear well, and said they issued the boil advisory in an abundance of caution. The advisory lasted about a week and was lifted Dec. 6. Serino, a Poway resident, said she herself and her two-year-old son were also sickened by the water. "Personally I felt ill after drinking the water, and my son, I had to take him to urgent care" Serino said. "So just in my own family, because we are Poway residents, I have two small children, it's affecting us as well and other people that we work with." PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — Hurricane Marco is heading across the Gulf of Mexico on a path toward the Louisiana coast.Tropical Storm Laura battered the Dominican Republic and Haiti and is headed to the same part of the U.S. coast, also as a potential hurricane. On Sunday, President Donald Trump said his administration was closely monitoring both hurricanes and that they had FEMA lined up and the Coast Guard ready to go. Trump added that he had approved emergency declarations for Puerto Rico as well as Louisiana.It appears the storms will avoid being hurricanes simultaneously — something that researchers say has never happened in the Gulf of Mexico at least since records began being kept in 1900. The National Hurricane Center says Marco was about 240 miles (390 kilometers) south-southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River late Sunday afternoon. It had maximum sustained winds of 75 mph (120 kph). The center warns of life-threatening storm surges and hurricane-force winds along the Gulf Coast. 1018

President Donald Trump applauded reports Thursday that Senator-elect Tommy Tuberville, R-Alabama, could team up with an Alabama congressman in an extremely unlikely, last-ditch effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election.In a series of tweets on Thursday, Trump called Tuberville a "hero" and "a man of courage."Despite producing little evidence to support his claims, Trump has claimed there was widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election and has falsely claimed victory over President-elect Joe Biden.Trump's efforts to overturn the results of the election have been shot down by courts in every battleground state, federal appeals courts and the Supreme Court. Furthermore, every state has certified the results of their elections, and the Electoral College has already sealed Biden's win.However, some Republicans believe they'll be able to overturn the results of the election on Jan. 6, when Congress meets to certify the Electoral College results.It's a process that is typically a little more than a rubber stamp approval, but Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Alabama, has promised to raise an objection. Should a senator — like Tuberville — join in Brooks' objection, both the House and the Senate would then be forced to take a vote. If both chambers approve of the objection, the Electoral College votes could be thrown out.While Tuberville's objection could cause a slight delay in approving the Electoral College results, most experts believe that it would be "impossible" to overturn the election results through this process. Democrats control the House of Representatives, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said he does not want Republican senators further challenging election results.Tuberville will be sworn in as a Senator on Jan. 3 — just three days before Congress meets to approve the Electoral College vote. By defying McConnell in one of his first official acts as a Senator, Tuberville risks losing the support of one of the most powerful lawmakers in Washington.However, his recent comments indicate that he plans to object to the Electoral College vote."You'll see what's coming," Tuberville said this week. "You've been reading about in the House. We're going to have to do it in the Senate."Other GOP senators have not said whether they plan to voice an objection.Tuberville, a former college football coach at Ole Miss, Auburn, Texas Tech and Cincinnati, defeated Sen. President Donald Trump cast doubt on his planned summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will occur on schedule, saying Tuesday the talks "may not work out for June 12."He was speaking alongside his South Korean counterpart, who is in Washington to shore up confidence ahead of the historic meeting.Trump said preparations were "moving along" for the diplomatic encounter with Kim, but suggested there may not be enough time for the two sides to agree on the parameters for talks."If it doesn't happen, maybe it will happen later," he said.In his meetings with South Korean President Moon Jae-in, Trump hoped to gain clarity on North Korea's nuclear intentions.Some US officials believe Moon oversold Pyongyang's promises when his government relayed Kim's invitation to Trump for talks in March. LUCIE, Florida — A 3-year-old child is in critical condition after being shot during a road-rage incident in Port St. Lucie overnight.Port St. Lucie police say the child was a passenger in a vehicle that was involved in a shooting that stemmed from a road-rage incident at approximately 2 a.m. local time Monday morning in Port St. Lucie.The child was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital and is in critical condition.The suspect vehicle is a black, newer model, four-door sedan.
