SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego artist wants to paint murals around the city that she hopes can help bring an end to gun violence."My concept is just something beautiful that people can take a picture in front of and just really enjoy the artwork of it but also take a message away from it," says Hanna Daly.Her concept is a series of artworks that look like colorful doorways. Each will have a message written above them, like 'Thoughts and Prayers Aren't Enough.""I thought it could be, like, a doorway to change," Daly says. "You walk away from it thinking, maybe there's a little something I can do. Like a doorway you step through it and now you're part of the cause."Daly became part of the cause last year, when her brother comitted suicide. He had shot himself in the head."Then a few weeks after that was Las Vegas," she says. "And then another shooting and another. It just kept hitting me, so I finally thought I should do something."Daly is working with with the Brady Campaign and Moms Demand Action on the project. She has the designs, just not the space to paint them."We need some people with some great walls out there that are visible, on main drags, where people are going to see it, where we can create some beautiful art, but that has a strong message," she says.She's hoping to paint the murals in high traffic areas like the Gaslamp District or along the boardwalks near beaches. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego man is accused of having and distributing explicit images of minors.According to a federal complaint that was just unsealed authorities allege Gilad Daniel Reifler knowingly distributed visual depictions of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct and possessed images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.The federal documents say agents used peer-to-peer file sharing software to connect to his computer in January 2017 and obtain more than four thousand images. Agents say they were able to connect to the computer on two other dates and obtain more sexually explicit files.According to the complaint in June of 2017 agents searched Reifler’s home where they claim he admitted to obtaining and distributing child pornography via the same P2P file-sharing program that they used to obtain the images from a device in his residence.Court documents say, “following the execution of the search warrant I reviewed media seized from Reifler’s residents. The results showed over 170,000 images and over 10,000 videos depicting minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct on media seized.”A man who identified himself has Gilad Reifler told Team 10 investigator Adam Racusin he had no comment about the allegations.10News tried to get a hold of Reifler’s attorney, but as of this writing have not heard back.The FBI tells Team 10 they can’t comment on anything outside of what’s already in the public documents. 1466

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A Marine was killed in a hit-and-run accident in the Midway District just after 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night, according to San Diego Police.The victim, who was in his early 20's, was visiting an establishment with his friends earlier that night.At some point, his friends could not find him. Police said he walked or fell into the street in the 2700 block of Midway Drive.Police said a car hit him and took off toward Rosecrans Street. There was no description of the driver or vehicle available. Police were checking surveillance video and his phone to find out more information. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A reported threat to San Diego State University campus was deemed not credible, according to campus police.University police were told of a person making "incoherent threats" on campus Thursday morning. Responding officers made contact with the individual, detained the person, and determined the threat was not credible, police said.The person never posed a threat to the campus or community, police clarified.RELATED: City of Poway debuts hotline to handle school threat reportsOfficers said the individual was removed from campus and they are not affiliated with SDSU.There have been at least 20 school threat investigations in San Diego County since the Parkland shootings on February 14.  740

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man reportedly attacked by four teenagers near Petco Park died Monday morning, family members tell 10News. 56-year-old Edward Leon Starland died several weeks after being attacked and beaten on November 18 around 2 p.m. Several teenagers, including 19-year-old Dominick Wells and three juvenile females ages 14, 15 and 17 were all taken into custody on felony battery charges. RELATED: Arrests made in attack near Petco Park that left man with serious injuriesStarland was found unresponsive after witnesses say he was involved with an argument with the group before being thrown to the ground and attacked.
