Two men were attacked by sharks off the eastern coast of Florida. The incidents occurred within an hour of one another, 100 miles apart. The first attack took place around 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday near Jacksonville Beach Pier, according to a witness. RJ Berger said he and his friend Frank O'Rourke were surfing together when a shark knocked O'Rourke off of his board and into the water. The four-foot shark then bit O'Rourke on the arm, Berger said. The two men managed to catch waves back to shore, where a lifeguard treated O'Rourke for his injuries.Instead of heading straight to the hospital, the two men decided to go to a bar, Berger said, where the shark attack earned the pair lots of free drinks."Everyone's like, 'you got bit by a shark, I'll buy you all the drinks you want,'" Berger told CNN.O'Rourke is a professional surfer and eager to get back out in water. He planned to see a doctor on Sunday and could probably use a stitch or two, Berger said.Bitten while boogie boardingThe second attack happened around 4:30 p.m. ET at New Smyrna Beach, about 100 miles south of the first. An 49-year-old man was bitten in the leg while boogie boarding, Volusia County Beach Safety said in a statement. The man was treated on the scene for lacerations to his right thigh, the statement said. He then drove himself to Bert Fish Medical Center for additional treatment.Berger say the shark that bit O'Rouke and believes it was a blacktip shark. The shark in the second attack was not seen by any witnesses. 1514

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House is readying an urgent budget request to address the deadly coronavirus outbreak, whose rapid spread is spooking financial markets and restricting international travel. That's according to a senior administration official who confirmed Monday that the emergency request is still being developed and is likely to come this week. The Department of Health and Human Services has already tapped into an emergency infectious disease rapid response fund and is transferring more than 0 million from other HHS accounts to combat the virus. 581
Vice President Mike Pence on Tuesday misleadingly cited some statistics about illegal entry to the US in an effort to build support for the Trump administration's border wall by tying the issue of immigration to fears of terrorism and crime. In an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America," Pence was asked about a statistic, misleadingly cited by White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, that 4,000 "known or suspected terrorists" were caught trying to enter the US illegally as part of the administration's push for greater security at the southern border. Although the Department of Homeland Security has said 3,755 individuals the Department of Homeland Security has cited as "known or suspected terrorists" were prevented from traveling to or entering the US in fiscal year 2017, the vast majority of those people attempted to enter by air or legal ports of entry elsewhere. The data concerns individuals attempting to travel to the US by air, sea or land, and includes those who made efforts to obtain visas from embassies and consulates around the world. In July 2017, the State Department said there was "no credible information that any member of a terrorist group has traveled through Mexico to gain access to the United States."The administration's suggestion that tighter southern border security is needed to stop thousands of terrorists stands in contrast to the government's own statistics on the issue. 1431
