DETROIT — Police are looking for a man caught on camera stuffing a 4-foot snake down his pants at a pet store in Rockwood, Michigan, on Wednesday, March 20.Surveillance video at the I Love My Pets store shows the man reaching into the python's cage before putting it in his pants and casually walking away.Store employees say the python had just been adopted and was getting ready to go to its new home on the same day it was stolen."The last thing we were expecting was to check the video and take a closer look and see a man putting it down the front of his pants, we were not expecting that at all," said employee Callie McElroy. Doctors are reporting that people infected with the pandemic virus may lose their sense of smell and perhaps taste. DENVER, Colo. — Several Denver police officers stepped up to make sure the daughter of a fallen detective had the perfect wedding. “That was a really hard thing to think about, walking down the aisle without him,” Kourtney Krietemeier told KMGH. Her father, Denver Police Det. Donnie Young, was killed in the line of duty in 2005.Her aunt recommended having some of Young’s former colleagues walk her down the aisle and her mother offered to step in for the father-daughter dance. On her wedding day, she danced with her mother for a few minutes, but when the song changed — to one she instantly recognized — she knew something was up. “When I was super young, my dad got me a small replica of his badge with his badge number on it and he played that song when he gave it to me,” she said. “I was shocked. I just knew the tears were going to be flowing.”One of the Denver police officers who worked with her father took her mother's spot and danced with her. One by one, her father's multiple former colleagues took their turn dancing with the bride. She said they told her things she would have heard from her father that day — how proud they were of her, how excited they were for her. And how special her father was to them. CLEVELAND — Police in northeast Ohio says they've collected multiple handguns in the past month that have been modified to turn the firearm into an automatic weapon.In one case, 20-year-old Toriano Leakes, Jr. of Cleveland was indicted on two counts of illegal possession of a machine gun.Bedford Police say the Glock handgun they confiscated from Leaks' car was modified to include a "select-fire auto sear." The device is also sometimes known as a "select fire switch."According to Justin Herdman, a US Attorney in the Northern District of Ohio, the modified handguns can fire 30 rounds in the span of five to six seconds.“It’s a newer thing hitting the internet because people think it’s cool,” said Assistant Bedford Police Chief Rick Suts.“The second you put that on a gun, it violates the National Firearms Act. It makes it a machine gun which is illegal," he said.Federal authorities say they've seen an increase in the modified handguns and they hope to crack down.“We have seen a significant uptick in people trying to acquire these switches manufactured mostly in China,” Herdman said. "...a message is being sent. If you have a machine gun in the Northern District of Ohio, we are going to prosecute you federally."The push is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at violent crime. 1319
