According to police, the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. at the Mills Building on Imperial Avenue downtown. The building houses San Diego County government offices. Police say the man threatened an employee on the 5th floor of the building before damaging computer monitors in the office. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A La Jolla homeowner is facing millions of dollars in damage to his property after massive amounts of water flooded into his house Tuesday.Didier Jantz, the general contractor for the homeowner, said the owner wasn’t home when the water began flooding in. Crews doing work on the home on Encelia Drive noticed the water start coming in around 3 p.m.Crews say the water came from a neighborhood property, though it's unclear what ruptured and released the water. The city told 10News they sent a crew to turn off the water at a residence due to some type of leak, though it's unclear where the leak was and what caused it.“There are Asian Persian rugs everywhere, there’s a lot of personal damage, we got water in the walls, we got water in the ceilings, we got water coming through the ceiling lights,” Jantz said. 842

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A nurse who pleaded guilty in the brutal death of her boyfriend's baby has been granted parole."Angry, angry," said Deanna Stanley, the grandmother of 7-month-old Nicole Alegado.Stanley spoke to 10News after attending a state parole board hearing Thursday and learning the woman who killed her granddaughter was granted parole.Back in 2008, in order to avoid a trial, the baby's family supported a plea deal. "Emotionally we couldn't handle it," said Stanley.Eileen Villamajor, a nurse living in National City, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the killing her boyfriend's daughter, saying she was frustrated by her cries. She was sentenced to 15 years to life."Eileen picked her up by the hair and threw her to the ground twice. Nicole remained crying. Eileen held her head in her hands until she heard it crack, at which time Nicole stopped crying," said Stanley.Stanley sat through those unbearable details at Villamayor's parole hearing in Corona. She listened to Villamayor's petition, including her good behavior in prison and completion of classes to control her emotions. Stanley is still convinced Villamayor is dangerous."For someone to do something that something horrific with their hands ... I don't know if you can cure that in a class," said Stanley.Stanely says Villamayor showed no remorse during the hearing but revealed something new about the motive, which involved about Nicole taking up her father's time."She said she hated Nicole, resented Nicole. To me that shows premeditation. If we had gone to trial, I think she would have been convicted of first-degree murder," said Stanley.In the end, the parole board deciding to grant Villamayor parole. She could serve 13 years and 7 months of a sentence of 15 years to life. Proposition 57 passed in 2016 allows her to accrue good behavior credits which can reduce a life sentence."There is no justice here," said Stanley.The earliest Villamayor can be released is March 2020. The family has 120 days to appeal to the governor's office to overturn the decision, which they plan to do. The District Attorney's office, which backed the family at the hearing, says they will likely write a letter urging the governor to overturn the parole decision. 2250

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A mysterious monolith that appeared in a San Diego parking lot earlier this week is gone, the structure torn down by a group of people in an incident captured on social media Tuesday night. The monolith was in the Scripps Ranch Marketplace parking lot. Similar structures have been popping up all over the country and the world since mid-November. In videos posted to social media, a large group of people can be seen pushing over and then carrying away the shiny, sleek object late Tuesday evening. SDPD told ABC 10News that they did receive a call about the incident but because it's unclear who owns the monolith they weren't able to file a report and there is no ongoing investigation. 718

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A political kingmaker is using his fortune to shake up the San Diego race for District Attorney.The first television ads are hitting airwaves now, little more than a month before the election.The element of surprise surrounds the tone of an ad paid for by billionaire George Soros. He’s known for backing progressive candidates and shaking up elections, usually with controversial ads.The ad lays out Geneviéve Jones Wright’s qualifications to be San Diego County’s next District Attorney. It does not attack her opponent Summer Stephan, which is what most politicos expected.Jones Wright told 10News she had not seen the ad.Stephan’s campaign manager said he’s surprised the ad is more of an introduction than an attack. Jason Roe also said there is no doubt in his mind the gloves will come off, based on what he called Soros’ pattern of negative and dishonest ads.Jones Wright filed a complaint with the attorney general claiming Stephan was basically campaigning on the job and using photo ops with law enforcement in her campaign materials.Stephan’s campaign manager called it a distraction. 1128
