SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police officers were forced to abandon a pursuit Tuesday after learning a child was in the suspect's vehicle.The pursuit began after the suspect rear-ended an SDPD vehicle along 17th Street downtown around 1 p.m., according to police. The officer in the vehicle hit was fine.Police pursued the driver but terminated the pursuit after learning a child was in the car.SDPD ran the suspect's plates and found the vehicle was also stolen. During the pursuit, the suspect's vehicle collided with at least one other vehicle - losing the front right tire.No injuries were reported.The vehicle was abandoned in the 1300 block of Angelus Ave. in Lemon Grove. Police have yet to locate the suspect.The owner of the vehicle told 10News the car was stolen from Lakeside two days ago. He said he and his 12-year-old son worked on the vehicle as a project together. 943

County officials say it’s important to be prepared because topsoil, mud, plant material, and debris can clog culverts and storm drains and damage roadways. It also has a staggering number of veterans who don’t have a place to liveAnd, even more alarming is the number every year who take their own lives.As ABC 10News Anchor, Kimberly Hunt explains…a non-profit in San Diego lead by, and staffed by, veterans is looking to change that.There are an estimated 1,100 homeless vets on the streets of San Diego. Statistically they commit suicide at a rate of 1.5 times higher than the general population.Kyle Drake is president of Cammies and Canines Sanctuary… a veteran owned, faith bases non-profit helping veterans by providing, among other things transitional housing, structure, and therapy.On this sprawling ranch in Dulzura, they’re given an opportunity.But Cammies and Canines Sanctuary under the importance of companionship. It pairs each veteran with a rescue dog which has been schooled by their master trainers as a service animal.Kyle’s construction company builds tiny homes on the property for each vet to have a sense of place. Tony’s pest control company, Mosquito Joes trains interested veterans to work in the pest control industry, and everyone is given a sense of responsibility and respect. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Fire-Rescue unveiled two new tools Wednesday that will help their dive team be faster and more efficient. "They move about 5 times faster than a diver can swim," Sergeant Rob Brown, with the SDFD Dive Team, said. The first hour during a search is crucial, he added. It could mean the difference between life or death. According to the website, DiveX, the scooters can go up to 600 feet underwater and can drive about 3 miles-per-hour. "It reduces our air consumption, allows us to stay under longer, as well as reduce diver fatigue, so we can get more reps in while we're conducting searches," Brown said.The team's had scooters since the 1990's but the new Piranhas are three generations ahead of what the team's been using, according to Brown.The need became apparent in August of 2018, when a 12-year-old girl fell off a boat in the San Vicente Reservoir. Her body was found days later.The team's request was answered by the San Diego Fire-Rescue Foundation. They donated two scooters to the team, costing about ,000 each."We cannot say enough how grateful we are for the support of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Foundation in getting this equipment to us," Brown said. The foundation is accepting donations to afford four more scooters here.Brown said the scooters are lightweight and they can buy the batteries at Home Depot, saying they're the same as those power tools use. 1415

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County's unemployment rate dropped for the sixth consecutive month, but that momentum appears to be at risk.The state reported Friday that the jobless rate in the region was 7.7% in October, down from 8.9% in September. Over the last year, about 106,000 San Diegans have lost their payroll jobs. San Diego's recovering job market is facing new headwinds from the latest round of coronavirus restrictions. The purple tier bans indoor dining and limits retail capacity to 25%. And on Saturday, the governor's curfew of 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. goes into effect.
