"It's restricted in this situation. It's also related to our sense of control. It's also an example of optimism bias, where we believe our likelihood of encountering these events is much lower than other people.""Humans have a contact need," Dr. Wayne Pernell said. "So, when it comes to people ignoring the social distancing order for that contact need, there's this sense of 'well I'm clean.'
