SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A surf dog and quadriplegic surfer that made history 10 years ago reunited in La Jolla Sunday.Ricochet and Patrick Iverson met 10 years ago when Iverson decided to go surfing. Ricochet and Iverson were side-by-side when Ricochet decided to jump on the surf board.Since that day, Ricochet has surfed with and helped hundreds of kids, people with disabilities, wounded warriors and veterans with PTSD.Now, Ricochet is part of an organization that helps kids and adults with autism, special needs and disabilities. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Amid Coronavirus c oncerns a Holland America cruise ship took off Saturday from the Port of San Diego on a 7-day trip to Mexico.Passengers boarding the cruise said for the most part they weren't concerned.Some added Holland America had been emailing them updates on precautions the cruise line is taking and what passengers should do to stay healthy.Holland America sent this list of precautions to 10News:Guests who have traveled from or through mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau, or had contact with a suspected or confirmed case of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) or a person who is under monitoring for coronavirus in the last 14 days prior to sailing will not be permitted to board the ship. Pre-Boarding medical evaluations, including temperature checks, for persons whom, for any reason, appear or identify as symptomatic (respiratory or fever symptoms); and For all guests, our standard pre-boarding health reporting advising of their reporting obligations for any illness or symptoms of an illness.Medical screening for Coronavirus on all guests who visit our onboard Medical Center with symptoms of any respiratory illness.Reporting to local and national health authorities of all cases of fever and respiratory illness, and any patients with suspected Coronavirus infection. Crew members from mainland China will be delayed from joining any ship until further notice. Crew members from other regions of the world who may have been scheduled to connect on flights through China have been rerouted.Additional environmental disinfection on board will be performed in addition to our regular stringent cleaning and sanitation protocols.Saturday 10News did not see or hear about any passengers having their temperature taken.10News reached out to the cruise line working to confirm these precautions are being taken. 1850

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego Midwife is living her dream of opening her own birth center, helping minority women.We met Nikki Helms in July when her GoFundMe was off the charts, raising more than 1,000.She had been a licensed midwife for about a year and wanted to open a birth center. Fast forward to December and her dream is coming true."We've got signage and I stood at the foot of my stairs and cried about that," Helms said filled with gratitude. The community has continued to wrap their arms around her mission."It's really just been amazing and overwhelming, and I feel so blessed," she said wiping a tear from the corner of her eye. "And so grateful and I get teared up every time I start talking about it because it gives me the opportunity to go care for families and you know it just blows my mind."Since July she's raised another ,000 and packages keep arriving on her doorstep with items for the birth center.Her mission is to support women through childbirth and beyond. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A virtual job fair for Camp Pendleton Marines, their spouses, veterans, and members of the reserve and guard is set for Thursday.Organizer RecruitMilitary says more than 35 employers will attend, and more than 400 job seekers have already signed up. The jobs run the gamut from full to part-time, telecommuting, and include local and national employers. The City of Carlsbad and the San Diego County Sheriff's Department will be there recruiting. Other employers include Northrop Grumman, ADT, Spectrum and Eli Lilly. "We have employers that have made the transition themselves," said Jennifer Hadac, a Navy veteran organizing the fair for RecruitMilitary. "A lot of them are veterans themselves or military spouses or members of the military community, so they understand the challenges that they face, they speak the lingo, so it kind of bridges the gap for them."The nationwide Veteran unemployment rate is now at a seasonally adjusted 8 percent, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports. It peaked at 11.8 percent in April. But in December 2019, it was as low as 2.8 percent. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Allegations of battery made against a California Assembly candidate have proven to be false, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.Detectives say after interviewing several witnesses and reviewing surveillance video, allegations against Phil Graham have proven to be unfounded and the case is being closed.RELATED: State assemblyman candidate accused of batteryNiki Burgan filed the report on Sunday, May 20. Burgan alleged that the incident happened on May 14 at the First Street Bar in Encinitas. Burgan said she met Graham and that they engaged in conversation.Burgan alleged that Graham kissed her against her will and followed her outside before attempting to have her touch him in a sexual manner against her wishes.The department says it conducted a thorough investigation and disproved the allegations after being assigned to the case on May 21.10News reached out the Phil Graham and received the following statement:  1006
