United Airlines has established a new policy for transporting pets in cargo holds that includes banning dozens of dog breeds and several types of cats.The new policy takes effect June 18, when the carrier will resume reservations for its PetSafe program. The airline temporarily stopped the program in March after a series of high-profile incidents involving pets that were lost and others that died on United flights.United said it will be working with American Humane, an animal-welfare group, to improve the well-being of pets that travel on United, both in the cargo hold and in the cabin. Through the rest of the year it will continue to “make enhancements as needed to further improve the safety and care of animal transportation,” United said. 773

U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy said Tuesday that the USPS will not implement operational changes to mail delivery until after the 2020 election."...there are some longstanding operational initiatives — efforts that predate my arrival at the Postal Service — that have been raised as areas of concern as the nation prepares to hold an election in the midst of a devastating pandemic," DeJoy said in a statement. "To avoid even the appearance of any impact on election mail, I am suspending these initiatives until after the election is concluded."DeJoy also said that the USPS would not remove any mail processing equipment or mailboxes and would not close any mail processing facilities between now and the election. The statement did not address whether the agency would restore services or equipment that had been cut prior to Tuesday.DeJoy, a longtime ally and donor to President Donald Trump took over as Postmaster General in June. Since that time, he's instituted several changes that customers and workers have said have led to delays in mail delivery, including the elimination of overtime. John Bel Edwards, members of the congressional delegation and state health officials to talk about Louisiana’s response to the pandemic. One person he won't see is Attorney General Jeff Landry, who tested positive ahead of the Pence visit and is in quarantine. Louisiana's confirmed caseload is growing fast, and its infection and hospitalization rates are surging. VALLEY CENTER, Calif., (KGTV) -- Residents who were evacuated by the Miller Fire Friday afternoon were given the go-ahead to return home Saturday morning. Firefighters made tremendous progress by mitigating the 37 acre fire to 75 percent containment. 10News met Sandor Gyetvai minutes after he and his family returned home from being evacuated. He was surveying his property."This is the starting point," Gyetvai said. "It's just frightening. There's just so much fuel load in here."He was one of more than 1,400 people evacuated from the zone in the direct path of the fast-moving fire. "I ran into the house and grabbed the hard drives with all of our family photos from 20 years ago. We grabbed those, we jumped in the car, grabbed the dog and took off," Gyetvai said. He said it was a scary feeling not knowing if they were coming back to a home or a pile of rubble. "It burned the whole back part of our neighbor's property and came up to the back of ours," he said, pointing at their fence. Firefighters made incredible progress and were able to save the home of Gyetvai's neighbor, Christina Bishop. Bishop's backyard was scorched, but she is finding joy in the little things that survived.The pine tree that her now-adult son planted when he was five years old survived. She also found a golfball her kids hit in the backyard from when they were pretending it was driving range. "I'm going to keep it as a souvenir of the big fire," Bishop said smiling. Aside from the heroic acts of the firefighters, Gyetvai says he also has to thank his two dwarf pygmy goats, Cookie and Midnight. He left the fences open for them to run during the fire, but they stayed and continued to eat off of the brush. "The fire came right up to our property and pretty much stopped because there was no brush to burn because they've eaten it all up!" Gyetvai said. He believed their healthy appetite helped fire-proof their property."They're just eating machines that are living lawnmowers," Gyetvai laughed. 2003
