CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — A copy of a school quiz entitled "Does Nikolas Cruz Deserve to Die?" recently gained a lot of attention on social media. The quiz was meant to be an assignment on the death penalty. School officials say it was distributed to students at Coral Glades High School in Coral Springs, Florida last week. The high school is just a few miles away from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School where Cruz shot and killed 17 students and staff earlier this year.Stoneman Douglas parents like Cindy Levine are furious."These people lost their children, for crying out loud," Levine said. "And my son could have been one of them."The outrage spilled onto social media. Stoneman Douglas survivor and student activist Cameron Kasky, quoted in the quiz, tweeted "I cannot begin to express how pathetic I find this." School board critic Andrew Pollack, who lost his daughter in the school shooting, tweeted: "This is absolutely despicable." And, "Does anyone @browardschools have a brain?"School staff posted a message on the school website Friday saying they were unaware of the assignment. It said the material was from a subscription-based publication and has been pulled. The school said it's instituting a review and regrets the incident occurred.Scholastic, the publisher, sent WPLG a statement that their intention was to "... provide a platform for meaningful conversations around the history, civics and social impact of the death penalty. We deeply regret if this real life example added in any way to the ongoing suffering of the students, families and educators of the Parkland community." 1664

Crazy Horse III strip club is preparing for the arrival of their new neighbors, the Las Vegas Raiders, by introducing a daily "Hard Hat Happy Hour" from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. starting Wednesday, Nov. 8.The promotion will help the Raiders stadium’s construction crew unwind from long days of work by offering a complimentary drink each hour of the daily special. All it will take is for workers to present their work card or pay stub upon arrival.Oh, did we forget to mention that they will be granted free entry to the club as well?Crazy Horse III is just minutes away from the future site of Raiders stadium, which means workers, fans and players should expect a lot more of these specials to be announced as 2020 draws near.  735

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — More than 150 students at Colorado College are being quarantined for the next two weeks after one tested positive for the COVID-19 over the weekend.“At first I was like, shocked, but after a little while it sunk in like, 'Wow, that’s 14 days in one room,'” said Colorado College freshman Andrew Kaelin.Kaelin and Oliver Kendall only met Saturday. On Sunday, these roommates found out they will be spending nearly every minute of the next two weeks with each other. Students are allowed to only leave the room for laundry, bathroom and water. Food for the day is delivered to the room.“It’s a good way to get to know someone,” Kendall said. Before moving in, all students were required to take a COVID-19 test and were asked to isolate in their dorm rooms until the results came back.Brian Young, with Colorado College, said the student who tested positive went into the hallway of the dorm rather than staying in the room.“Immediately, as we isolated, the individual did our contact trace, realized, unfortunately, (that they) didn’t follow the guidelines we were after,” Young said.Neither Young or the El Paso County Health Department could say exactly how many came in contact with the student. Whatever the number was, it was enough to lock down Loomis Hall and the 155 first-year students living there.“All of our students are doing fine. No one is symptomatic,” Young told KMGH.Young said anyone showing even one symptom will be tested immediately. Colorado College is also providing students the ability to speak to a mental health expert as needed. Young says students will be allowed to get some fresh air with supervision. This story was originally published by Gary Brode at KMGH. 1723

CLEVELAND — A Cleveland website is facing backlash after attempting to be humorous about the foreclosure crisis and sex trafficking. Coolcleveland.com wrote an article about an upcoming gingerbread house making event at restaurant TownHall. In the now deleted post, the site said "the foreclosure crisis left a lot of empty gingerbread houses around Cleveland. Many end up becoming dens for cracker addicts." It also mentioned "gingerbread sex slaves."A spokesperson for TownHall said they were upset by the post. "We are appalled by the article written by Cool Cleveland. We had no prior knowledge of the article, nor did we approve the article in any way.  The moment we saw the post, I personally called Cool Cleveland to express the inappropriateness and requested it be taken down immediately," Director of Communications Kayla Barnes said. A publisher for Coolcleveland.com apologized for the post and wanted others to know TownHall was not responsible for the content. You can read the full apology below:  1066

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. – A sheriff’s office in Georgia says it has fired a deputy who was caught on video repeatedly punching a Black man during a traffic stop. The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday the deputy, who is white, was fired for using excessive force on Roderwick Walker. The office did not identify the deputy but added that a criminal investigation has been turned over to the district attorney’s office.According to his attorney, 26-year-old Walker was arrested and beaten after deputies pulled over the vehicle he was riding in Friday with his girlfriend, their 5-month-old child and his stepson for an alleged broken taillight and asked for his identification.Videos of Walker’s arrest quickly surfaced on social media, which appear to show Walker pinned on the ground while officers are on top of him and one deputy punching him.In one video, obtained by WGCL, one of the deputies is heard saying “he bit my hand” and Walker is heard saying “I’m about to die.” You can also hear those witnessing the incident yelling for the officers to stop. The sheriff’s office says Walker has received medical treatment and is being monitored by a doctor at a jail hospital. Treatment included x-rays of the man’s head and no fractures were detected, according to the sheriff’s office.Sunday, the Georgia NAACP called for the charges against Walker to be dropped, so he could be immediately released.Authorities say the sheriff ordered a signature bond courtesy for Walker, but his bond was denied, because he has as a felony probation warrant out of Fulton County for cruelty to children, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and a failure to appear warrant out of Hapeville. 1701
