A rare albino deer was caught on video at a park in Oakland County, Michigan over the weekend.The video, posted by Mick McDonald, shows the albino deer in Kensington Metropark in Milford.A photo posted to the Pure Michigan Instagram page in early December also shows an albino deer in Kensington park. A Spirit Airlines employee has been charged with allegedly stabbing a co-worker during an argument at Cleveland Hopkins Airport, according to a police report.Around 7 p.m. on Nov. 12, police were called to the Spirit Airlines ticket counter for an altercation between two employees.When they arrived, authorities found a male employee who said he had just been stabbed in the stomach with a pair of scissors by another employee, the report said.  According to the report, the victim said around 6:30 p.m. he was sitting on the "belt" behind the counter when a third employee told him he wasn't allowed to sit down.  The employee also told the victim the suspect, 39-year-old Vonda Gardner, had taken photographs of him sitting down.The victim approached Gardner about the photograph and Gardner denied taking any pictures and swore at him, the report said.According to the report, the victim told Gardner he wanted to have a discussion with management to resolve the situation, to which she replied: "don't worry about it, I got it taken care if."During this time, Gardner was typing an email on her computer while the victim was standing behind reading over her shoulder. When Gardner realized this, she turned her computer monitor off.The victim reached over, turned the monitor back on and was then stabbed by Gardner with a pair of scissors she had been holding, the report said.The victim grabbed the scissors from Gardner and ran to security.Gardner was charged with felonious assault and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 22. 1571

A proposition on the November ballot would eliminate the state's ban on affirmative action when it comes to public hiring, contracting and college admissions.That means public agencies and universities can consider race, sex and ethnicity as it makes decisions, in an effort to address diversity.“I was able to go to Stanford and prove myself, and then go on to Georgetown and UCLA Law School on a full-ride scholarship, because I was given that initial opportunity,” Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez said Monday.Gonzalez said she was one of the last to benefit from affirmative action in California, because state voters banned the practice via prop 209 in 1996. She was speaking at a campaign event in favor of Prop 16, which would repeal the ban on affirmative action. Proponents say it would help level the playing and reduce the gender wage gap.“California’s ban on affirmative action programs has locked out small businesses owned by women and people of color from billions of dollars in contracting opportunities,” said Norma Chavez Peterson, who runs the ACLU of San Diego and Imperial Counties. “It has hurt students of color applying to both the Cal State and the UC California university systems, and it's limited access to good wages and benefits for many thousands of women and people of color.”Opponents say Prop 16 allows discrimination and that there's already assistance available for people who need a boost.“It's true that we need to do things to help people who haven’t gotten the same opportunities, but that's true whether they are African American, Latino, Asian, White, American Indian,” said Gail Heriot, a law professor at the University of San Diego who is co-chairing the No on 16 campaign. “We need to do things to help people that need a leg up, but let's not judge it on the basis of race.”State universities, for instance, can consider low income or being the first in a family to attend college in admissions decision making.Last week, our ABC-10news Union-Tribune scientific poll found Prop 16 leading with 40 percent in favor and 26 percent opposed, with the remainder undecided. 2119

A man who tried to enter a teenage girl's bathroom stall was confronted and killed by the girl's father, officials say. According to Phoenix police, around 11:30 p.m. on August 2, 40-year-old Melvin Harris went to the QuikTrip near Dunlap and 19th avenues to pick up his teenage daughter and her friends. A man, who would later become the victim, approached Harris' car in the parking lot and asked for money. Harris gave him some money, and he went into the QT. Harris was later informed that a man tried to enter the bathroom stall his daughter was using. The teen told an employee, who in turn alerted an on-duty security guard. The man exited the store and was pointed out to Harris, who realized it was the same man he had given money to earlier. Harris went into the store and told the security guard that, "he needed to take care of the situation, or [Harris] would do it himself." The guard reportedly told Harris he would handle it. According to witnesses, Harris later approached the man and punched him in the face. Witnesses also reportedly told police that Harris stood over him, hitting him in the face several more times. He also allegedly kicked and stomped on him. Harris then left the area. Police identified and located Harris at his home nearby. He reportedly told police that the man punched him first, hitting him in the neck. He denied striking the man when he was down. The victim was taken to the hospital with a broken nose and brain injuries. He later died.Harris has been charged with second-degree murder. 1612
