DETROIT - "She was loved," said Jessica Williams-Stough about her 36-year-old daughter, Kelly Stough, who was murdered Friday morning near East McNichols and Brush in Detroit. "She had a lot of people who loved her. She just wasn't nobody."Albert Weathers, a local pastor, has been charged with open murder and felony firearm (use of a firearm in commission of a felony). Weathers appeared in court Monday for arraignment where his bond was set at million.Kelly Stough was a 36-year-old transgender woman who was beloved in the LGBTQ community and aspired to be a designer and buyer in the world of fashion. Investigators won't reveal a motive or other details surrounding the murder, but a source said that after the shooting, Weathers fled the scene, clocked in at work at the Great Lakes Water Authority, and then called police an hour after the shooting to say that someone tried to rob him and that he shot someone. Weathers lives in Sterling Heights and a woman who answered the door at his home declined to comment. Someone who knows Weathers, but wished to remain anonymous, said that he's married with children and that he rents space in a local church for his small congregation.The case has been assigned to Special Prosecutor Jaimie Powell Horowitz of the Fair Michigan Justice Project (FMJP).The FMJP is a collaboration between the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office and Fair Michigan Foundation that focuses on serious crimes against those in the LGBTQ community. 1626

DALLAS — Southwest Airlines is moving closer to the first furloughs in the airline's nearly 50-year history. The airline warned nearly 7,000 employees this week that they could lose their jobs unless labor unions accept concessions to help Southwest cope with a sharp drop in travel during the pandemic. That's roughly 12% of the airline's staff.The jobs impacted include customer service agents, ramp agents, operations agents, provisioning agents and freight agents nationwide. Last month, Southwest warned another 400 mechanics could be furloughed. Southwest is seeking pay cuts of around 10% in exchange for no furloughs through 2021. In WARN letters required by law of the possible involuntary furloughs, Southwest says they were able to operate without any employee pay cuts, layoffs or furloughs this year because of the Payroll Support Program in the CARES Act from Congress. Once the protections and funding expired on September 30, the airline says they implemented voluntary separation opportunities, "with approximately 25 percent of Employees taking voluntary options," the airline writes. The airline’s top labor-relations official says negotiations with unions have stalled. Unions say they have proposed cost-cutting measures to Southwest, but management has rejected them and refuses to consider any more voluntary buyouts to reduce the workforce. 1372

One major point of contention often involves the use of marijuana in the home."If I want to smoke a lot of weed I don’t think that’s an issue," said Damion Green.Finding roommates with his mentality hasn't been easy for Green."I’ve been through hell with people. People who insist you smoke outside, people that freak out about paraphernalia sitting around," Green says of his issues with prior roommates.That's why Angeliki Gousetis created 420 Friendly Apartments — a Facebook group connecting fellow marijuana smokers who are looking for roommates with similar interests.The group doesn't find a place to rent. Dan Garfield, an attorney who specializes in cannabis law, says "it’s just as difficult to find a weed-friendly landlord as it is to find a tobacco-friendly landlord." And if you do find one, Garfield says, Be prepared to pay a larger security deposit.""There’s no worry that I’m a professional and because I’m in finance, I can’t be 420-friendly, so if, God forbid, somebody sees me, I have to hide myself. There’s no hiding. Just be yourself," said Gousetis, a New York realtor.She started the same group in New York before creating one in Denver over the summer. More than 3,000 people have already joined, including Green, who posted to the group he was in need of a place to live. He says within a matter of days, he found his new roommates.Gousetis says she's helped connect people in 25 states. She calls them bud-mates. The group is free to use. DENVER – Denver business owners have until the end of the month to make sure they’re complying with changes to the city’s building code in regard to gendered language on restroom signs.The Denver City Council voted in December 2016 to amend the code to state that any single-occupant restroom – a restroom with a single stall or toilet or a stall and urinal that’s intended for use by one person at a time – must have a sign stating that it’s open for use by anyone regardless of gender.Existing businesses have until April 30 to meet that requirement.The change also applies to “family” or assisted-use restrooms.Many of these bathrooms are likely already gender neutral; the change in the building code simply states that they must be labeled as such. The change also requires that the restrooms lock from the inside.The city doesn’t require any specific wording or a particular sign design, but the sign must make it clear that the restroom is gender-neutral.According to the city’s website, businesses that don’t have the proper signs will receive a notice that they have 30 days to comply. DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) - MLB Hall of Famer, Trevor Hoffman, joined joint developers, Zephyr Partners and The Robert Green Company Monday in supporting an initiative that would give San Diegans access to a bluff-top site that has been closed to the public for a century.The plan is to transform a nearly 17-acre site at 3350 Camino Del Mar into a luxury resort with public access to the beach down below."To be able to actually come here and enjoy it, have a glass of wine at one of the restaurants or walking on one of the trails, I'm really looking forward to it," said Del Mar resident of 50 years, KC Vafiadis. The two developers want to create a luxury resort called "Marisol" which would include a hotel with 65 rooms, 31 villas, dining options, gardens, cocktail lounge, spa and access to the beach down below. The plan is a smaller version of the original proposal, which was met with backlash by residents of Solana Beach and Del Mar. They worried it would obstruct ocean views and increase traffic in the area, so the developers downsized the project by 40-percent.The new plan is an alternative to a proposal that was already approved, which would create private, gated estates.The developers now hope to gather enough signatures for a citizen's initiative to put the plan on the ballot next March. They say they're taking into consideration bluff safety and stabilization and have plans for traffic relief as well.The initiative will be filed with the Del Mar Clerk Monday. 1492
