The Pacific Ocean Market has been a staple of Asian American businesses in Aurora, Colorado, for years."There is such a variety of places to eat and different types of food and things you don't normally see in the ordinary market," said one customer of the market. Within the last month, business at the market has been somewhat of a roller coaster ride since the new coronavirus first surfaced. "With people panicking across the country, we've heard stories in New York saying there's no more rice and Atlanta there's no more rice, so people have been continuing to stock up on that," said Betty Lam, one of the two daughters of the owner of the market. The outbreak began in China and quickly spread across Asia. Since then, a growing number of coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the U.S. and customers seem to be staying away from Asian American businesses as a precaution.According to The New York Times, business at shops that sell Asian products dropped by 70 percent in the first two weeks of February. The Chinese Merchants Association in San Francisco says foot traffic in their Chinatown district dropped by 50 percent."It's a little off and on right now,” said Lam. “We're not too sure how it's going to go." Lam says she’s already heard of businesses being affected."From the restaurants we work with, we have seen and heard that they're not doing very good and there have been a lot of customers and loyal customers who haven't been going to their restaurants due to the coronavirus." Michael Bennet announced they are exiting 2020 presidential race as of Tuesday evening.Yang entered the race among several political outsiders, and managed to qualify for the majority of the Democratic debates. As protests continued on Friday in response to the death of George Floyd, protesters in Louisville, Kentucky, also had Breonna Taylor on their mind. For the second straight night, violent confrontations ensued between police and protesters in Louisville. Shortly before 10 p.m., a reporter and photojournalist for Louisville-based station WAVE-TV appeared to be intentionally targeted by police with rubber bullets during the protest. It is unclear based on several viral videos of the incident why police fired on the reporters there. The Radio Television Digital News Association released a statement following Friday's incident in Louisville. "Journalists’ job is to show the world what’s happening in our communities," the statement read. "Local reporter Kaitlin Rust keeps reporting even while being targeted by police, and viewers at home stare down the barrel of a police weapon."The incident took place hours after several CNN reporters were arrested in Minneapolis, in an incident the state’s governor called a mistake. Gov. Tim Walz has since apologized to the journalists for the incident. On Thursday, seven protesters were wounded by gunfire amid demonstrations. Taylor, a 26-year-old EMT, was shot and killed by police when they entered her apartment to serve a "no-knock warrant" on March 13.Taylor, who was employed as an EMT, was inside of her home when police conducted a “no-knock raid” on her home. An Iowa State fan who used his viral moment to raise over million for a children’s hospital is being rewarded with a year’s supply of Busch Light – featuring his own face. Busch unveiled the special “Iowa Legend” beer can on Twitter and said they would be sending a truck of the cans to the fan, Carson King. King went viral on Sept. 14 when he was featured in the background of the announcers on ESPN’s “College Game Day,” holding a sign that read “Busch Light Supply Needs Replenished” along with his Venmo name. Afterwards, viewers started sending money to King and the donations soon reached thousands of dollars. Realizing he couldn’t drink that much beer, he decided to donate the money to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. At least 10 cars caught fire on a single Baltimore street early Friday morning.The fires took place in the Mount Vernon neighborhood of the city at about 3 a.m. local time.According to Scripps station WMAR in Baltimore, the gas caps from a number of cars were deliberately removed in order to set the vehicles ablaze.Video taken from the scene and shared on social media shows some of the burning vehicles exploding.Police are currently searching for suspects and motive in the case. 495
