A Los Angeles doorbell camera captured the gut-wrenching screams of a woman police say they believe may have been kidnapped, but it did not capture images of what caused her calls for help.Witnesses in the Leimert Park neighborhood called Los Angeles police Tuesday to report hearing a woman screaming, according to an LAPD news release."Help me," a woman's voice can be heard screaming in the footage, which shows only a dark street from a porch. A Kansas City man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted three people outside a Platte County motel and shot a service dog who tried to intervene in the attack. According to a probable cause statement, Mardrecuis D. Williams, 25, got into a fight with a person on Feb. 26 at a Motel 6. Both Williams and the other person were asked to leave the motel and not return. After being asked to leave, Williams returned twice overnight and knocked on the victims’ door, saying that he would kill them, according to the report. The next day, as the three victims were checking out and walking toward their vehicle, Williams and another suspect allegedly came out from behind a dumpster and began attacking them. At one point, Lolly, a 3-year-old Border Collie, attacked Williams, and he allegedly shot the service dog, the report said. Lolly was taken to an area animal hospital, where she had surgery to repair the gunshot wound to her left side and a ruptured spleen. Her intestines had fallen out due to the impact of the bullet, which veterinary staff also repaired. In addition, she had a three-inch laceration to her rear leg. The female victim told police that she suffers from a condition that causes joint pain, dizziness and panic attacks. The CDC is investigating an alarming new trend that's sending people to the hospital across the country for lung issues. Doctors are reporting a spike in severe pulmonary illnesses possibly relating to e-cigarette products or vaping. There are now more than 150 cases in at least 16 states. One of those cases was 18-year-old Chance Ammirata, who ended up in a Florida hospital after he felt pain in his chest. “It was almost as if I was having a heart attack and I couldn't breathe,” he describes. It turns out his lung collapsed, which doctors say could have happened from something he inhaled. The teen blames vaping, which he started about a year and a half ago. “I didn't think vaping could have that effect on my lungs,” he says. In Texas, 17-year-old Trystan Zohfeld spent 18 days in the hospital and lost nearly 30 pounds after his lung failed. His doctors also believe vaping could have played a factor. According to the CDC, since June vaping has been linked to more than 153 mysterious cases of lung disease, spreading from coast to coast, in at least 16 states. The common link: vaping products that contain either nicotine or THC. “We've seen the damage and the dangers of nicotine addiction, but now, we see the possibility of lung problems and others,” says John Schachter with the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.
