CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — Seniors living at Volta Apartments in Otay Ranch say an elevator at the five-story complex has been broken for more than a month, leaving many residents feeling trapped. They also say management has been giving them the runaround, refusing to lay out a process or timeline for repairs."I would believe you probably two or three days, but not a month or two months. That's way too much time for the seniors," said the son of one of the residents.RELATED: Residents concerned over rash of vandalism in Chula VistaThere is a second elevator, but because of the large size of the complex, some residents now have to walk a city block to get there, which is beyond the capacity of some of the most disabled residents. "It's ridiculous. It's been over a month. How long do they have to wait?" the son said.10News left voice mails at the office and with the management company, but those calls were not returned. A visit to the office was unsuccessful, as the outside door was locked. 1014

Chrissy Teigen's 4-year-old daughter Luna melted hearts around the world Monday when she paid tribute to her unborn brother with a gift.On Oct. 1, Teigen shared that she had suffered a miscarriage at 20 weeks. Luna also left her brother a snack — a piece of Pirate's Booty popcorn.Teigen called her daughter's gesture the "cutest, most beautiful thing I've ever seen.""we try to explain things well and answer every question imaginable in a beautiful, spiritual but literal way," she wrote in her caption. "I know this is a weird post but I just wanted to share these to always remember my incredibly empathetic little mini. life is infinitely better with her in it. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - The Chula Vista Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that happened Saturday night on Telegraph Canyon Road. Surveillance at a nearby business captured the accident."Of course it was scary watching the video, right in front of our workplace here, it is scary," said Hector Ruiz, a Chula Vista real estate agent. At around 8:25 p.m., a man is seen crossing the road outside of a crosswalk. He makes it past the eastbound lanes but is then hit by a car traveling west. The driver remained on scene after the crash and has been investigating with officers. The driver did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol; no charges are expected to be filed against him. Ruiz says he is constantly worried about speeding along that stretch of Telegraph Canyon Road.Chula Vista Police say they welcome tips from the public regarding dangerous roads or places where drivers tend to speed. They can bring speed trailers to those areas to determine if there is a speeding problem. 1028

CHULA VISTA (KGTV) - Chula Vista police are searching for a possible arsonist after two brush fires burned part of Otay river bottom Friday afternoon. Fire crews responded around 2 in the afternoon to the area south of Main Street and east of Broadway. While crews were working to put out the fire, they received a call of a second fire in the same location. The second fire presented more difficulties because of its location. Batallion Chief David Albright tells 10News, "it was kind of down in the slough, in the river bottom, so we were able to bring in a helicopter and make some water drops". Multiple water drops were made and fire crews had both fires out within an hour. Chula Vista police are continuing their search for a possible arsonist. They believe there could be a connection to one of the homeless individuals living near the Otay River bottom. San Diego County sheriffs also sent up their helicopter to look for a suspect in the brush but were unsuccessful. 985

CINCINNATI -- The phone call stole Angel Goss' breath. When her children came to investigate the sound of their mother jumping up and down in their home, she could only point at the phone. A match, she tried to tell them. They found a match. She would receive a donor kidney. The search for one her body could accept had lasted 10 years, much of it spent in hours-long sessions of dialysis.Multiple blood transfusions and a diagnosis of lupus, which contributed to her kidney failure, meant she needed to find a donor who met exacting standards: They needed to be alive, and they needed to belong to the 2 percent of the population with a compatible blood type. After a decade, that donor had finally materialized. Ohio State University Hospital found them."I was overjoyed," Goss said. "You know, I've been waiting too long for this. I didn't know how to contain myself because I was just so excited.”She was lying in a hospital bed, ready for surgery, when she learned it wouldn't come. Hurricane Michael stalled the flight carrying her kidney in South Carolina, where the organ spoiled in storage as the ice around it melted, and Goss was speechless again. "I didn't want to hear it," Goss said. "I didn't want to believe it. (I thought,) ‘It's going to come, and when it comes, it's going to be just for me.'"I didn't want to speak to anybody. I felt like everything bad follows me."Goss continues to wake up early for four-hour dialysis sessions every day. She said she forces herself to believe everything happens for a reason, even if she can't see it, and keep her loved ones in mind as she lives each moment to the fullest. She will remain at the top of the kidney transplant list, hoping for another rare donor to come along. In the meantime, she said she hopes sharing her story will encourage those with healthy kidneys to become organ donors. "I just want that second chance," she said. "I want to feel good again." 1975
