The Food and Drug Administration warned pregnant women on Thursday of using some pain and fever medications during the second half of pregnancies.According to the FDA, these nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can cause rare but serious kidney problems in the unborn baby, which can cause pregnancy-related complications. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs include ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, and celecoxib. The FDA added that its warning does not apply to low-dose aspirin.“It is important that women understand the benefits and risks of the medications they may take over the course of their pregnancy,” said Patrizia Cavazzoni, M.D., acting director of FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. “To this end, the agency is using its regulatory authority to inform women and their health care providers about the risks if NSAIDs are used after around 20 weeks of pregnancy and beyond.”The FDA says that warnings on prescription nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs already advise of complications past 30 weeks. The charges against one of the three men in connection to a viral video of a shark being dragged behind a boat from July 2017 have been dropped.A Hillsborough County (Florida) judge dropped two felony counts of aggravated animal cruelty (third-degree felony) against Spencer Heintz Tuesday morning.According to the judge, the state dropped the charges because no evidence showed that Heintz, 23, broke the law and because he agreed to testify as a witness.Heintz, 21-year-old Michael Wenzel and 28-year-old Robert Lee Benac were all charged after a four-month-long investigation into the graphic video of a shark being dragged behind a boat.At this time, it is unknown if the charges against Wenzel and Benac will also be dropped.Wentzel and Benac still face the following charges: 824

The freewheeling entrepreneur who built Tower Records into a global business and pioneered a new way to sell music has died at 92.Russ Solomon, who started selling records at his father's pharmacy in the 1950s, passed away on Sunday at his home near Sacramento, California.The founder of Tower Records died while watching the Academy Awards, his son Michael Solomon told the Sacramento Bee."He was giving his opinion of what someone was wearing that he thought was ugly, then asked [his wife] Patti to refill his whiskey," Michael Solomon told the newspaper.Solomon had passed away by the time his wife returned.The first Tower Records opened in Sacramento in 1960, and by 1968 the company had expanded to San Francisco. Its iconic yellow and red signs would later be seen as far away as London and Tokyo.Fans flocked to the stores, attracted by a relaxed atmosphere where it was easy to bond with other music aficionados. Solomon did not have a dress code for employees, who mixed easily with customers."If you came into town, you went into Tower Records," Bruce Springsteen said in a documentary about the company called "All Things Must Pass."Solomon told Billboard Magazine in 2015 that his favorite regular was Elton John."He probably was the best customer we ever had," Solomon said of the pop star. The first day of fall is just one week away and restaurants are preparing to take another hit.“A lot of us are going into these months thinking, you know, how many more days can I survive until I have to close my restaurant?” said Kevin Boehm, a co-founder of the Boka Restaurant Group, an independent restaurant coalition.Boehm is also a restaurant owner in Chicago, where COVID-19 restrictions have slashed indoor capacity. And he says outdoor seating won't be possible much longer.The National Restaurant Association surveyed owners around the country. About three quarters say they're using patio space right now and hope to continue doing so for a least a few more weeks.Outdoor dining is bringing in nearly half of their daily sales but keeping customers outside will soon get more costly.“Equipment for outdoor dining, especially when it gets cold, get expensive, be it a tent for a parking lot, be it heaters or anything like that, that starts adding up in costs,” said Mike Whatley, VP of State and Local Affairs at the National Restaurant Association.The association wants local governments to start grant programs for buying that equipment to keep temporary regulations in place that allow for more outdoor service.The coalition hopes to see increased indoor capacity for cooler months.
