Chloe Delehanti works out at the Mission Valley location."I've lived through SARS and Swine Flu, and I don't remember it being this serious of a concern, certainly never getting emails from my gym, or travel alerts, so it's definitely concerning," said Delehanti. The email stated the company is increasing its cleaning protocols and reducing the use of props and physical contact between teachers and clients. "Obviously, I really like adjustments and having that component in class, but I think it's a good idea to be as safe as possible, considering that it is a really growing concern, and there's a lot of new cases," said Delehanti.A salon in Hillcrest is also changing the way it does business. Stylists at Brightside Barber will now have the option of turning away customers who appear sick. "From here on out, not to feel like you can't turn someone away, if they are visibly sick with a fever, coughing," said Angelic Corona. She's been in the business ten years and said she's never seen anything like this. "I was relieved, cause you know, in customer service, it's kind of always been the customer is always right, but in this scenario it's health and safety for everyone," said Corona. A few doors down at Ralphs, shoppers, like Tyler Armstrong, were stocking up on cleaning supplies. "I think it's crazy, and I think a lot of people aren't taking it as serious as they need to, and I think we have something serious on our hands," said Armstrong. 1800

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The American Red Cross of San Diego/Imperial Counties opened a shelter Thursday night for residents displaced by flooding from heavy rainstorms.The shelter opened around 9:30 p.m. at the Paradise Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church on East 8th Street in National City.Services include a safe and clean place to stay, food, hydration, comfort kits with personal hygiene items, emotional support and health services, according to the Red Cross. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Target cash registers suffered a nationwide outage Saturday, leaving some customers around the country sitting in line for hours.The company's corporate office said an "internal technology issue" shut down registers for about two hours Saturday, preventing customers from making purchases in store.Target added that the technology issue was not a data breach or security-related issue and that customer data was no compromised. By 2:30 p.m., Target said their systems were back online:"Target’s registers are fully back online and guests are able to purchase their merchandise again in all stores. The temporary outage earlier today was the result of an internal technology issue that lasted for approximately two hours. Our technology team worked quickly to identify and fix the issue, and we apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this caused for our guests. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Thanksgiving with the Salvation Army will be different in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic."We knew that we were going to do something," says Captain Sean Kelsley, who oversees the Salvation Army East County Operations. "The question was, what would it look like?"For the past 30 years, the Salvation Army held large, family-style gatherings to feed people experiencing homelessness, the disabled, and families in need at Golden Hall for Thanksgiving. They plan for 1,800 people, plus volunteers.But a gathering of 2,000+ people is strictly forbidden under California and San Diego County COVID-19 guidelines.In its place, the Salvation Army will offer "grab-and-go" style meals at four locations around the county."We're just glad to be able to be here," says Captain Kelsey. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The California Appeals Court put a stay on the release of a sexually violent predator known as "Bolder than Most" rapist. Back in June 2019, a San Diego County Superior Court judge ruled in favor of conditional release for a sexually violent predator. Judge David M. Gill made the controversial decision for Alvin Ray Quarles, 56.Mary Taylor is a survivor and says she's hopeful with the appeals court stepping in, "we've been hopeful in the past, but this is actually a court saying wait a minute lets look at this." Up until this week, things were moving forward as the search for a place to release Quarles in San Diego County continued. Monday afternoon, Taylor got a call from the deputy district attorney saying they filed for a writ and it had been approved. A writ is similar to an appeal. The California Appeals Court issued a stay. Now, all progress towards finding Quarles a location has stopped and cannot continue again until the courts resolve the appeal. In the meantime, Quarles will stay at the Coalinga State Hospital getting treatment through a program for sexually violent predators. 1131
