Gavin Newsom signed AB 2731 this week, which will allow the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) to quicken the environmental review process in order to build a transit hub connecting to San Diego International Airport and redevelop the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) Old Town campus site, should the Navy partner with SANDAG.The bill, introduced by California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria and Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. "This project has the potential to generate at least 16,000 jobs and provide housing for up to 27,000 residents – both of which we know are desperately needed. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Hundreds of people rallied outside of the County Administration Building Monday and called for the reopening of San Diego County businesses.The rally was held as new coronavirus-related restrictions took effect across the county over the weekend, forcing businesses and entities like restaurants, gyms, and churches to shutdown their indoor operations.“Some of us are in danger of losing our homes. We’re definitely in danger of losing our businesses. And we just had enough; enough is enough,” said Laura Crivello, a business owner that attended the rally.Many business owners also shared their personal stories and how the restrictions have crippled their businesses and livelihoods. They were joined by the County Supervisor Jim Desmond and the mayors of El Cajon and Coronado. All three expressed their support for business owners.“This is a very important moment for San Diego County and California. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Humpback whales aren't the only aquatic life giving locals a show off the coast of San Diego.Dolphins can be seen fairly regularly, but it's not everyday you see a pod tallying in the thousands. The term "mega" gets thrown around quite a bit to describe scale, but in this case, it truly fits.Video captured Sunday shows a "megapod" of thousands of "common dolphins" off San Diego's coast, estimated to be of about 2,500 dolphins.RELATED: Humpback whale feeding frenzy off San Diego's coastDomenic Biagini, a photographer for San Diego Whale Watch, said pods of 25 to 200 dolphins are common. But a megapod, or "superpod," refers to pods eclipsing 1,000 dolphins and may be seen once every other month."Every now and then, we'll see multiple pods come together," Biagini said.
