SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Lyft opened a 35,000-square-foot "Driver Center" Tuesday in a former Toys "R" Us store in Bay Park to provide a one-stop location for its drivers to go for vehicle repairs, maintenance and other support services."We're proud to open one of Lyft's first Driver Centers in San Diego to further meet our drivers' needs directly," said Lyft Southern California General Manager Hao Meng. "We know that maintaining a vehicle can add up and our goal is to service drivers' vehicles in a timely and affordable way so they can get back on the road."The facility at 1240 W. Morena Blvd. will be staffed by 20 vehicle service specialists, driver support and onboarding staff.Mayor Kevin Faulconer, San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jerry Sanders and other community leaders were on hand for an opening ceremony.The Driver Center is designed like a race car pit stop, according to the ride-hailing company, with technicians working in teams to quickly get repairs completed and drivers back on the road.Available vehicle services include oil changes, tire rotation, and replacement of tires, brake pads, wiper blades, spark plugs, filters and batteries, along with free diagnostic assessments. SAN DIEGO (CNS) -- Hundreds of thousands of San Diegans are expected to cast their ballots in person today, Election Day, with over 1 million ballots already received.The San Diego County Registrar of Voters said more than 1.1 million ballots have been received and nearly 60,000 residents have voted early in-person as of Monday, well more than double when compared to this point in the 2016 presidential election.Of the 1.95 million registered voters in the county, 1,114,627 had already turned in their ballots as of election eve. Over the weekend, 44,370 residents cast early votes at the county's polling locations and another 10,391 have voted early at the registrar's office since Oct. 5.ELECTION 2020: Latest Results, Key Races & Ballot MeasuresMail-in ballots were sent to all registered voters in the county on Oct. 5, even those who had not requested one.Voters who prefer to cast their ballots at their assigned polling place on Election Day can do so between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday.An in-person voting location tool can be found on the county's voting website, SDvote.com.The day before the 2016 election, San Diego County had recorded 507,127 mail ballot returns. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities Tuesday publicly identified a 15-year-old boy who was fatally shot last week in Barrio Logan.Patrol personnel responding to reports of gunfire in the area of Chicano Park shortly before 10 p.m. Friday found a large gathering of people standing in a parking lot and a motorist beginning to drive away in a silver sedan, according to police.Seeing the arriving officers, the group, including two people in the car, scattered, Lt. Andra Brown said.RELATED: 15-year-old fatally shot near Chicano ParkInside the vehicle, police found Brian Romo of San Diego, who had been shot in the upper body. Paramedics took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and no arrests have been made in the case."While the investigation continues, very little is known about the circumstances leading up to the (victim's) death," Brown said.
