SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Young adults in the U.S. are moving more frequently than they did in 1960, according to a new report by Zillow. Data from San Diego, however, paints a different picture. According to the site, 33.8 percent of young adults in 1960 lived in their current home for less than two years. In 2017, more than 45 percent of young adults had lived in their current home for less than two years. San Diego, however, bucks the trend. In America’s Finest City, in 2017 the share of young adults who lived in a home less than two years is 50.6 percent, down from 54.4 percent in 1960. The data show that young San Diegans are moving less than in 1960. Among young adults who recently moved in the San Diego area, more than 68 percent moved within the metro, while 9.4 percent moved from a different metro in the state and 22.3 percent moved from outside the state. According to Zillow, changes in workplace norms have contributed to the changes in housing tenures. Zillow also says that, rather than climb the corporate ladder, many young adults move from one role or job to the next. The typical employed Millennial has been with their current employer for 2.8 years, according to Zillow. 1205

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Veterans looking for a job during the Coronavirus Pandemic are learning to use virtual job fairs to grow their careers."It's sometimes difficult, but overall it's been a positive experience," says Army Veteran Steven Padilla, who has been looking for a job since March."You can only do so much interacting. You can't shake hands. You can't wait in line for a conversation."Padilla says his job search has been more difficult since the Pandemic hit. Companies have stopped hiring or removed job postings.He's not alone in looking for a job. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Veteran Unemployment skyrocketed during the Pandemic, peaking at 11.8% in April. That means more people competing for fewer positions.But RecruitMilitary.com, the Army's primary contractor for helping service members transition from the Army to civilian employment, says there are still plenty of jobs. They're hosting multiple virtual job fairs every week to help veterans find one."It's really just a way to dip your toes in the water and visiting a lot of companies," says Chris Stevens, the Vice President of RecruitMilitary.com.He says the company has gone from holding about 15 virtual job fairs each year to more than 130 planned for 2020."It's just like any other typical chat room," Stevens says. "Candidates and companies can go into private chats. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested Monday afternoon after police say she stole a vehicle with two children inside.Police say Rodney Cole left his 3-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter in his car with the engine and air conditioner running around noon on the 200 block of Euclid Avenue.After he went into a business, a witness reported seeing a woman, later identified as Leslie Saenz, get into the car and drive away with the children inside.Monday night Cole explained the terrifying ordeal to 10News.His 8-year-old daughter, Malaiha, told police she was able to call the police and tell dispatchers that she and her brother Jackson had been kidnapped. "They said, '911 whats your emergency?' and I said, 'me and my little brother got kidnapped,'" Malaiha said. "and (police) said, 'where are you and what can you see?' and I said, 'signs for the Mexico border.'""(The woman) tried to take the phone away from me but I moved away from her, and she said, 'give it to me, or I’m going to drive in circles and take this car and crash into the freeway wall.'"That's when she gave the phone to the woman, but the police acted quickly.  Roughly 30 minutes later after the car was stolen, Border Patrol detained the woman as she was trying to cross the border into Mexico.  Police have since taken Saenz into custody.Cole told 10News he bought the phone for the kids a few months ago, but it's not an activated line. He taught Malaiha how to call 911 on the phone, in case of emergencies. "I'm very proud of her," he said. 1616

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Video posted to social media went viral this week, reportedly showing San Diego Police officers' violent arrest a 20-year-old man.Trenelle Cannon was arrested on warrants in Chula Vista Tuesday at about 6 p.m., according to his mother. He was booked into jail and charged with carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, robbery, and identity theft, according to SDPD, however more charges may be filed.The video shows several officers above Cannon as he is being arrested. One officer can be seen making a repeated punching motion. Cannon's girlfriend, Shakira Smith, was in the car with him and other friends at the time of the arrest and captured the video."A 12 second video of this arrest was shared on social media without any context or details provided," police said in a news release. Video released later in the day by police shows a man tackling a police officer before more officers get involved. SDPD held a press conference to address the video:Undercover officers had been conducting surveillance of Cannon in the area of 600 E St. in Chula Vista when they requested uniform officers to arrest him, SDPD Chief David Nisleit said during a press conference. Nisleit says Cannon then fled from officers, forcing police to give chase. At some point during the chase, a weapon was recovered where a witness last saw Cannon. Nisleit said Cannon was located once again in the area of 1100 4th Ave., where he got into a car with four others. The vehicle then proceeded to get onto Interstate 5, where officers conducted a traffic stop.During the traffic stop, Nisleit said Cannon tackled an officer to the ground, prompting multiple officers to assist in an arrest. Nisleit said officers feared Cannon had another weapon and used a "combination of physical force and distraction strikes" to restrain him."This is a very important key to note, once restrained and no longer a threat to officers no additional force was used on Cannon," Nisleit said.The family of Cannon held a press conference in response to the incident:Smith, as well as Cannon’s mother spoke at a news conference Thursday afternoon. Smith said she and Cannon were in a car with several friends when they were pulled over. She claims Cannon was pulled out of the car before being thrown to the ground. She then says officers piled on top of him. Smith made no mention of what happened before the couple got into the car, when police say Cannon led them on a chase, allegedly dropping a gun along the way.After screaming at police, Smith says she started recording the arrest. As she was recording, Smith says police told her: “put your phone away, you can’t do that.”The family and others said they wouldn't answer any questions following the news conference. Nisleit said Cannon and the officers involved were not injured, aside from slight abrasions. Internal Affairs detectives was notified of the arrest and will evaluate officers' use of force and whether they followed policy. Based on the social media video and body-camera video, Nisleit said that he believed the appropriate amount of force was used by officers. 3124
