Allstate Insurance announced on Wednesday that they are planning to lay off 3,800 employees.In a press release, the company said the layoffs were part of a restructuring plan to lower costs.Allstate will make the cuts in the sales, claims, and support departments."Implementing this plan is difficult as we still deal with the impact of the pandemic but necessary to provide customers the best value," said Tom Wilson, Chair, President, and CEO of Allstate in the press release. "We have expanded transition support for impacted employees including prioritized internal hiring, extended medical coverage, expanded retraining support, and help in employment searches."According to the Wall Street Journal, the layoffs cover approximately 8% of Allstate's 46,000 employees.Roughly 1,000 of those laid off are linked to the pandemic-related refunds the insurance company is giving to customers, WSJ reported.Back in April, Wilson told CNBC that the pandemic has resulted in people driving less, and as a result, there are fewer accidents and claims.Allstate reduced policy-holders' bills back in March, like many insurers. 1127

According to several media reports, more than 20 passengers on an Air India flight from New Delhi to Wuhan, China, tested positive for COVID-19 when they landed.According to CNN, 23 passengers tested positive for the virus on the Oct. 30 flight; 19 of them were asymptomatic. The four symptomatic passengers were sent to a local hospital and were quarantined.The Times of India reported that AI officials released a statement saying all the passengers had negative lab results from certified labs when they boarded the plane en route to Wuhan.The Oct. 30 flight marked the sixth time AI had flown to China, and the first time to Wuhan, during the pandemic, Huffington Post reported.On Monday, India's Embassy in Beijing issued a statement saying that the Indian government would assist stranded nationals abroad. The president is technically obese through his body-mass index.The 25th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which was adopted on Feb. 10, 1967, deals with the issues of presidential succession and who runs the country if the president is incapacitated.Section 3 of the 25th Amendment allows the president to submit, in writing, that he is not able to discharge the powers of the office. In that case, the president will voluntarily transfer the authority to the vice president, but the VP does not become president and the president remains in office.Section 3 was invoked under President Ronald Reagan when he underwent a colonoscopy, and twice under President George W. Bush when he underwent colonoscopies.In the case of Trump, he could voluntarily transfer power to Vice President Mike Pence if he believes it is necessary.Section 4 also gives the president's Cabinet the ability to strip him of power if the Cabinet believes he has become incapacitated.
