The bureau of labor statistics is predicting an increase over the next five years," Lori Long and Entrepreneurship Professor at Baldwin Wallace University said.In the last year, nearly 300,000 Americans 85 and older were working. That number is up 3 percent from the start of the 2006 recession.Industries, like the trucking industry, who years ago might not have given Blocksom a shot, could now do just that.“The shortage of drivers spans the entire country and virtually every trucking company in the United States," Frank Gagyi, President of the Buckeye Interimobile Trucking company in Cleveland said.And that’s where Blocksom is hoping a door will open.“I've always liked driving, so I figured that I'd like to be able to make some money driving," he said.Since his wife's been ill, he's had to sell his home, mobile trailer and other assets to cover expenses. Now he says trucking is a practical solution for income.“That would be the best way to do it," he said.And though it’s something he has to do, he’s pretty optimistic about trying something new."I believe I can do this pretty well, and it would be a nice challenge and it'd be fun,” he said.Blocksom still has to pass his commercial driver's licenses test for him to start working. Anthony’s headstone will see something new this year: a plastic cover.Her headstone, in a cemetery in Rochester, New York, now has a shield to prevent further degradation to the marble from the stickers’ glue and the cleaners used to remove the stickers.The sticker trend became popular on Election Day 2016, when as many as 12,000 people visited the cemetery where Anthony is buried.A spring restoration effort had revealed the damage done to the marble marker.This year, WHAM reports that city officials have also marked off a pathway for visitor to follow so they don’t disrupt other gravesites. Richard Cordray is stepping down from his post leading the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.Cordray said Wednesday that he plans to resign as director at the end of the month."It has been a joy of my life to have the opportunity to serve our country as the first director of the Consumer Bureau by working alongside all of you here. SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say somebody stole a tripod from a California Department of Transportation crew and then dropped it from an overpass onto a Sacramento freeway, impaling the lung of a passenger in a van.The driver of the van, Tim Page, tells KCRA-TV that he was on Interstate 5 Thursday morning when the yellow-and-red tripod smashed through the glass. He says it went through his passenger's lung and popped out.The man survived but with broken ribs and a partially punctured lung.Authorities say a 32-year-old man, who the Sacramento Bee identified as homeless, threw the tripod was arrested after a brief struggle and chase.
