Governor Whitmer of Michigan has done a terrible job. She locked down her state for everyone, except her husband’s boating activities. FROSTPROOF, Fla. — The triple murder of three close friends is under investigation in Florida. The Polk County Sheriff's Office says around 10:06 p.m. on Friday, one victim, 27-year-old Rollins, called his dad for help. Officials say his dad knew Brandon had gone fishing with two of his friends, 30-year-old Keven Springfield and 23-year-old Damion Tillman, who were also victims. All were from Frostproof.Brandon's dad drove to the unincorporated area of Frostproof and when he arrived, he found his son barely alive, officials say. The other two friends were found dead.Brandon's dad drove to a close-by gas station to call 911.When first responders arrived, all three victims were found dead. Officials said they appeared to have been beaten and shot."This is a horrific scene. I've been to a lot of murder scenes in my life and this ranks among the worst I've been to," said Sheriff Grady Judd.According to families, the three men were best friends and knew each other for years. They said the three men were fishing on land, not in a boat."We are seeking leads. We need help so we can solve this crime sooner rather than later because there are one or more, we suspected more, murderers, that killed three people in a quiet community," said Sheriff Judd. The sheriff's office is asking for the public's help on any information on the incident. If anyone has any information, contact PCSO at 863-298-6200.This story was originally published by Lisette Lopez at WFTS. 1477

Geese are terrifying. Everyone knows this. Their bites hurt like hell and they have no respect for children or the elderly. In fact, they are the second-most terrifying bird behind turkeys (large, tenacious) and ahead of crows (eidetic, vengeful). So this momentous trio of photographs showing a Canada goose absolutely trucking a high school golfer near Blissfield, Michigan, is just a reminder of the natural order of things. You can have, as one Twitter user put it, a "quiver full of bird maulers" and a whole high school athlete's worth of physical power, but the goose is going to win every time. It's science. The unlucky human sacrifice here is Isaac Couling, a member of the Concord High School golf team. According to Blissfield Golf Coach Steve Babbitt, Couling, 16, was competing in the Madison Tournament at the World Creek Golf Course in Adrian, Michigan, when terror rained down."The group just finished teeing off on hole #7 and were walking down the fairway," Babbitt told CNN in an email. "They were aware of a goose nest on their left which they were looking at but not bothering when from behind them and to the right came the guard goose (protecting the nest)."Then came a rather alarming escalation, a whole Shakespearean tragedy in three acts. The Blissfield Athletics Twitter account explained that Couling was caught off guard by the charging bird as he was keeping an eye on another, probably equally threatening, goose. As Couling attempted to flee the chaos he tripped, allowing the goose a clear coup de grace.Said Blissfield Athletics on Twitter: "And you thought golf was boring?"Massive credit should be given to Devon Pitts of Blissfield, the photographer who caught this inspiring and terrifying moment of nature in action."You can say [she] was at the right place at the right time," Babbitt said.By all accounts, Couling is fine despite his close brush with wingèd evil."I did par that hole," he told the Detroit News. CNN has reached out to Couling for further comment.The-CNN-Wire 2023
Grab your headphones and prepare to be blown away.NASA just announced it has heard the first-ever "sounds" of wind on Mars. But if you're expecting howling, swooshes and crackles, you're in for a surprise. These are vibrations, captured by NASA's InSight lander, which touched down on the Red Planet just last week. The craft will stay put until November 24, 2020, measuring quakes that happen anywhere on Mars. This week, the craft recorded something unexpected."InSight sensors captured a haunting low rumble caused by vibrations from the wind, estimated to be blowing between 10 to 25 mph (5 to 7 meters a second) on Dec. 1, from northwest to southeast," the agency said.An air pressure sensor and a seismometer recorded the noise through the vibrations in the air and vibrations around the aircraft "caused by the wind moving over the spacecraft's solar panels."This is the only time when vibrations from the lander will be recorded by the seismometer, since it will be moved by the craft's robotic armed and placed on the Martian surface, along with other instruments. The craft's landing comes as part of NASA's mission to explore the planet's deep interior.InSight lander's sensors are designed to detect quakes and air pressure through wind vibrations. The lander will measure whether tremors have the same effect as earthquakes. The Seismic Experiment for Interior Structure (SEIS), the seismometer, will use the vibrations to help scientists configure more about the planet's interior."Capturing this audio was an unplanned treat. But one of the things our mission is dedicated to is measuring motion on Mars, and naturally that includes motion caused by sound waves," Bruce Banerdt, the InSight principal investigator at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, said in a statement. To better hear this bass sound, it's better you bring out your headphones, or your subwoofer, as NASA suggested. You can hear the sounds here and listen to NASA's news telecon with a panel of scientists here.The-CNN-Wire 2011
