BEIJING, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Two Air China passenger planes carrying 457 Chinese citizens stranded in Egypt are due to arrive in Beijing early morning on Wednesday.The planes took off from the Cairo International Airport respectively at 11:16 and 15:32 local time (0916 and 1332 GMT) on Tuesday.The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the nation's aviation authority, said Tuesday it was doing its best to organize flights to Egypt to bring home Chinese tourists stranded in the North African nation.China has arranged six flights to fly stranded Chinese nationals home, the CAAC said in a statement posted on its website.

BEIJING, April 24 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government has ordered food companies to keep clear and intact records of all their production and selling operations as part of the efforts to prevent the illegal use of food additives.All food manufacturing and management companies must examine all products in stock for any trace of illegal food additives and keep records of the results in accordance with laws and regulations, according to a circular released Sunday by the food safety committee under the State Council, or China's Cabinet.The circular came days after Vice Premier Li Keqiang warned of the great harm from illegal additives in food, promising "a firm attitude, iron-hand measures and more efforts" in dealing with the problem.Companies that fail to keep genuine and intact records and documents will be ordered to reform, and those providing fake records and certificates will be suspended from operations and punished accordingly, said the circular.According to the circular, it is strictly forbidden to produce and sell non-edible materials that are likely to be used in food production without official certificates, and authorized production companies of these materials must adopt a real-name selling system.These materials, including those banned in animal feed and drinking water, should not be sold to food and feed companies, the circular added.A series of food safety scandals emerged in China recently. In one of the latest cases, steamed buns in Shanghai were reported, last week, to have been dyed, sold past their expiration date, or laced with coloring additives to mislead consumers.

The problem I brought up at the seminar last year has been solved in Beijing," wrote 34-year-old, wheelchair-bound Li Nan to Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Jan. 20 this year.The problem Li referred to was the high prices of one-off hygiene products that had plagued people with work-related spinal cord injuries for a long time.On Jan. 31, 2010, Wen talked with a group of ordinary people in Chaoyang District in Beijing to get their opinions on the draft of a government work report that will be submitted to the national legislature in March.Wen asked Li to be the first to voice her views at the seminar. Li said that patients with spinal cord injuries had to spend about 2,000 yuan (303 U.S. dollars) a month on one-off hygiene products because of their incontinence."My injury allowance is roughly 2,000 yuan a month. I have to live on my parents' pension," she said.She suggested giving more attention to the employment and mental health of the disabled, and also for some revisions on the catalogue of drug and auxiliary devices for those disabled by work-related injuries. She also proposed more subsidies for these people.Responding to the suggestions, Wen said, "Li Nan's case is far from an individual one. The disabled are a very large group of people in China who need more attention... We need to study, revise and renew the government regulations on work-related injury insurance."Wen also encouraged Li to be optimistic in face of ordeals.Li, who graduated from Beijing Youth Politics College in 1997, was once a prize-winning amateur dancer. FUZHOU, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- A minibus rolled over and fell into a reservoir in Shaowu City in southeast China's Fujian Province Friday afternoon, killing 10, local officials said early Saturday morning.Nine people were rescued, and two were still missing.The minibus bound for Shaowu from Yong'an lost control at 5:27 p.m. Friday when the driver apparently tried to avoid a motorbike. It fell into the Qianling Hydropower Station reservoir, according to officials with Nanping city government.About 200 police and rescuers were still looking for the missing people, and the investigation into the accident is underway.
