SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Residents wanting to take a hot shower at a La Jolla apartment complex could have to wait several days while crews work to repair a gas leak. The leak shut off hot water to three apartment buildings. Neighbors say they got a series of emails Saturday, one of them saying they wouldn’t have hot water for five to seven days. Residents say the issue is unacceptable. "I'm not getting in there, it's way too cold,” said Nick Imison. An email from his leasing company informed Imison he would be without hot water for about a week. Imison lives in the Regents La Jolla apartment complex. The email went on to say that their gas supply was shut off after crews found a gas leak. In the email, residents were told that if they need a shower during business hours, they need to stop by the office with an ID. “I was completely unacceptable for a complex that has about 600 units to just go hey yea you can come shower bring your id but it's only between the hours of nine and six,” Imison said. 10News reached out to the leasing company via email but have not heard back. In the email sent to residents, the company cites the need for several city and SDG&E required inspections before they can turn the gas back on. 1242

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County officials urged people across the county to cooperate with the latest public health orders and purple tier restrictions Monday.The county broke its record for the highest single-day COVID-19 cases reported on Sunday at 1,087. The second highest day was reported Monday with 833 new cases.During an emergency briefing, county officials said too many people fail to take the proper measures to slow the spread.“It is really about wearing facial coverings, and the social distancing, and staying home when you are sick,” said Dr. Wilma Wooten, the county’s public health officer.“As we go into the Thanksgiving holiday, we know that people want to get together, but I encourage you to follow the guidance that we have posted on our website, that the state, as well as the CDC, are recommending. Really limit your engagements or gatherings over the holidays. Follow the guidance from the state, no more than three households. I would strongly encourage you not to travel out of state.”County Supervisor Greg Cox said cease and desist letters were sent to several businesses and entities that refused to follow the purple tier closure orders over the weekend.Wooten recently asked law enforcement agencies to step up enforcement efforts in their jurisdictions; Supervisor Cox sent similar letters Friday.“On Friday, I sent a letter to all the mayors in our region to have them step up enforcement of state and local public health orders. And our regional compliance team is moving forward on complaints we are receiving, we need your cooperation, and we certainly need your compliance,” said Cox. “If not, we are fully prepared to enforce compliance with our local law enforcement agencies and other jurisdictions.”“You can be open, and you can be safe. It’s not either-or,” said Dr. Jeremy McGarity, lead pastor at Skyline Church.Skyline church did not receive a cease and desist letter Monday, but they’ve been warned before.McGarity said he believes religious services are essential, and he couldn’t stand by and watch people struggle with their mental health any longer.“We saw the huge rate of suicide ideation that went through the roof,” he said. “We actually felt like for us, it would be spiritual malpractice to stay closed.”McGarity said the church offers outdoor and online services but has no plans to shut down indoor operations.Instead, he says they have added several health and safety measures and leave it up to the congregants to decide.“For some people, being inside the church is their relationship to God,” he said.If cease and desist letters are ignored, that could result in criminal misdemeanor citations with a ,000 fine for each violation. Cox warned Monday that full closure orders could be enforced if businesses do not cooperate.Several lawsuits challenging the state and the county have already been filed. It’s something McGarity does not want to do but says the shutdown orders shouldn’t be looked at as “one size fits all”.“I don’t want to fight our county. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County was officially added to California's "monitoring list" as the number of coronavirus cases across the state increases, and Gov. Gavin Newsom said he expected local health officials to comply with specific orders that include the closure of indoor dining spaces.As of Monday afternoon, San Diego County joined five other counties on the monitoring list. The other counties added to the list: Colusa, Madera, Marin, Merced, and Monterey.Of the state’s 58 counties, 23 of them are on the state’s list.Ahead of the Fourth of July weekend, Newsom ordered counties that have been on the list for at least three days to shutter indoor operations at businesses such as restaurants, wineries, movie theaters, zoos, museums and cardrooms.In a tweet on his Twitter account, Newsom said:"CA is now asking Colusa, Madera, Marin, Merced, Monterey & San Diego to close indoor operations for:-Restaurants-Wineries-Movie theaters-Zoos, museums-CardroomsBars must close ALL operations."During his Monday news conference, Newsom said he was awaiting an order from local health officials in each of the newly-added counties to issue an order enacting the measures, which are expected to remain in effect for at least three weeks.Counties on the list were also ordered to close all of its bars, a move San Diego County had already taken ahead of the holiday weekend. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer met with leaders from the Marine Corps on Thursday to officially strengthen their partnership. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding between their organizations to work together on "Smart City" technologies such as unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), smart streetlights, renewable energy, and the City's "Get it Done" app. Last year the City of San Diego was selected for a pilot program by the U.S. Department of Transportation to advance the testing of UAS, more commonly referred to as drones. They're already being used by police and fire in Chula Vista. "We will share our experiences, we'll share as we discover uses for data together, and share how advanced technology can benefit the people that we both serve," said Mayor Faulconer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are asking for the public’s help locating a suspect wanted for shooting and killing a 27-year-old woman.Police say Robert Reed reportedly shot Sylvianita Widman during an apparent road-rage incident on the 100 block of Meadowbrook Drive at 5:30 p.m. Monday.According to police, two cars were traveling north down Meadowbrook when they both stopped and the passengers got into an argument.RELATED: Woman dies after being shot in a Skyline intersectionWidman then reportedly approached Reed while he was in his car.
