When an Oklahoma mother almost had her 4-year-old snatched from her hands, another mom standing close by jumped in to help. The two moms came together for the first time since the incident on Wednesday.On Saturday, LeeAnn Carrol says a man followed her and her four-year-old son Wyatt into a Tulsa Barnes and Noble. LeeAnn was nervous, so she kept hold of Wyatt's hand."He was telling my son he could pick anything out in the store, and he could just walk out and it's on him. And then it was like, 'just come over here Wyatt, let's go see this.' and I said, 'let's not,'" LeeAnn said.Then, the unthinkable happened, as LeeAnn says the man grabbed Wyatt and tried to run off. That's when Danielle Ritchie, another mother standing by, jumped in to help."He kept saying, 'whatever you want son, pick out whatever you want, I'll buy it, son'," Danielle said. "I don't even know, it was so quick, I just remember grabbing his arm and saying 'no'."Danielle was in the store with her two daughters and her husband Cory. Cory stopped the man before he could leave the children's section, and shortly after police arrested him."It was just frightening, very frightening," LeeAnn said. "I'm still shaking about it, I'll probably never let go of that."Wyatt is fine, but his mom is still terrified."I don't want to leave him alone, I don't want to leave him out of my sight," LeeAnn said.Danielle says it's a moment she will never forget."It was worse than a nightmare," Danielle said.As mothers, they both have the same message after the close call. UNIONTOWN, Ohio — A man and a woman made themselves right at home after they allegedly burglarized a Uniontown, Ohio, residence on Christmas Eve.Uniontown police responded to the 11300 block of Cleveland Avenue around 2:00 p.m. for a report of a suspicious vehicle in a driveway.Upon their arrival, they found the homeowner's relative holding the alleged burglars on ground at gunpoint, according to the report.Richard Nippell, 38, of North Canton, was arrested and charged with aggravated possession of drugs and burglary, according to a police report. The report states he had less than a gram of methamphetamine on him. Camri Cantwell, 20, of Canton, was arrested and charged with burglary.Officer Kim Berry, of the Uniontown Police Department, said Nippell took a shower, and both Nippell and Cantwell made a pot of coffee and did laundry at the time of the alleged burglary.Police recovered the homeowner's jewelry, a computer and copies of keys to the house and car inside the suspicious vehicle.Nippell and Cantwell were booked into the Stark County Jail. 1074

Two of America’s largest retailers, Walmart and Kroger, announced this week that the open carry of firearms would no longer be welcomed at their stores in states that permit open carry. The announcements follow a mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, that killed 21 people in August. CVS and Walgreens also joined the list of retailers that request customers to leave their guns at home.At several other retailers, customers have not been allowed to carry weapons, concealed or open, at their locations for years. Target established its policy prohibiting weapons in its stores in 2014. Then CEO John Mulligan said.“Bringing firearms to Target creates an environment that is at odds with the family-friendly shopping and work experience we strive to create.”Costco has a similar policy, stating that its members agree to abide by its membership conditions, which prohibit weapons in stores.“At Costco, we don't believe it's necessary to bring firearms into its warehouses, except in the case of authorized law enforcement officers,” the company says. “For the protection of all our members and employees, we feel this is a reasonable and prudent precaution to ensure a pleasant shopping experience and safe workplace.” But not all retailers have adopted such policies. All of it will be free of cost.“It's not just mental health care. Kids will be able to come in here and get tutoring you know get food and learn valuable life skills that they won't learn in school,” says 14-year-old Kyler Nipper.The endeavor is the next step in healing for the teen. When he was just eleven, he survived being bullied and stabbed by a classmate over his school shoes.“I never really realized that your life could end at any moment,” says Kyler. “So, I want to make sure that you have made an impact that you made other people's lives amazing”For the last three years he’s given away shoes through his non-profit ‘Kyler’s Kicks.’ For him, it was a way to help cope with PTSD after the attack and at the same time doing something to help others.“He loves doing it,” says Kyler’s father Nicholas Nipper. “He loves helping people he loves giving. This is a new venture.”It’s a new venture that Kyler says he hopes will provide access to mental healthcare for countless others like him.“My parents had to be willing to sacrifice all the money that we have to get me to see a therapist and have mental health care.
