MIAMI, Fla. — Miami-Dade County will have a countywide curfew as the surge of the coronavirus continues in Florida.Mayor Carlos Gimenez has signed the order for the curfew. Starting Friday, July 3, the county will have a 10 p.m. curfew until 6 a.m.Essential workers, first responders, hospital workers, food delivery services and media will be exempt from the curfew.Mayor Gimenez is also rolling back the reopening of entertainment facilities such as movie theaters, arcades, casinos (with the exception of tribal casinos), adult entertainment, concert houses, bowling alleys and other places that have recently had their plans approved by the county.That order will be signed later on Thursday.People who go to restaurants will have to keep their masks on while seated at the table. Hospitals are also experiencing an uptick in patients, and medical professionals are seeing a rise in 18 to 34 year olds who are getting sick, Gimenez said.At this time, hospitals still have plenty of beds, but some are experiencing staffing shortages. An investigation found that the gunshots that killed a Milwaukee pastor could be heard during a child's virtual school lesson in the home, prompting the teacher to call 911.Milwaukee police concluded in a report released Friday that the child was in a house on Sept. 11, when several gunshots could be heard by students and a teacher attending the virtual lesson. The teacher then called the police, informing them of the shots being fired at the child's address.As previously reported, 52-year-old Michelle Blackmon, a pastor, was allegedly shot and killed amid an argument, according to family.According to MPD's Friday report, first responders found the victim deceased seated against a stove in the kitchen. Two gunshot wounds were later found in her temple and her cheek. MPD did not identify the victim, but her identify was confirmed with family. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.A suspect was taken into custody on the same day. A Port St. Lucie man is recovering after he was bitten on the leg by an 8-foot alligator while walking his dog over the weekend, authorities said.According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Mark Johnson, 61, was attacked near a canal in a Port St. Lucie development around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday."I kind of slide and my foot is stuck in the mud, and the next thing I know, I see the lunge," Johnson said. "He starts clamping down pretty tight and he started to pull, and the next thing I do, I instantly, here's my fingers, I poke through the eye."Johnson said the gator was trying to drag him under the water, spinning while clamping down on the victim's leg."This gator was coming in fast. He was aggressive," Johnson said. "My foot was hanging out of the corner of his mouth."Johnson said that after he poked the gator in the eye, it let go of his leg and took off."I had to do something. That's what I say, you have seconds to react," Johnson said.The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he received 62 stitches in his right left and was later released.Johnson said his dog Rex was not hurt.The FWC said an alligator trapper responded to the area of the attack and captured an 8-foot gator. Milwaukee County completed its portion of Wisconsin’s partial presidential recount Friday night after the Milwaukee County Board of Canvassers certified the results.Milwaukee County ultimately recounted nearly 460,000 votes. President-elect Joe Biden gained 257 votes and President Donald Trump added 125 votes compared to Milwaukee County’s official canvass results. Biden netted an additional 132 votes to his margin of victory in Wisconsin, but Dane County’s recount has yet to finish.All that stood in the way of completing Milwaukee County’s recount Friday morning was 65 missing ballots from the city of Milwaukee. Those ballots were never found, so the board of canvassers decided to certify the results of all the other ballots in the county.Tens of thousands of ballots were separated during the recount at the Trump campaign’s request. 51,060 Milwaukee County voters self-certified that they were ‘indefinitely confined’ during the election. All of those voters who submitted their ballots had their ballot envelopes set aside for objections by Trump’s representatives.Additionally, 2,197 absentee ballot envelopes were separated because they had a different color ink on the witness address line, likely indicating clerks or poll workers filled in that missing information as allowed in the state.The board of canvassers decided that those votes would still count. The Trump campaign believes both categories could be fraudulent.
