SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Fire crews responded to a first-alarm brush fire in an east San Diego neighborhood Saturday.The fire ignited near the 5700 block of Bates Street around 1 p.m. in the Redwood Village neighborhood of east San Diego. Within 15 minutes, crews had stamped out the half-acre fire.No evacuations were ordered, according to SDFD.The cause of the fire wasn't immediately known. 405

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer announced Thursday that several more shoreline park areas and piers and boardwalks would be reopened this week amid the COVID-19 pandemic.Mayor Faulconer says the following will be reopened in June and July:June 8: East and West Mission Bay Parks will be open for park and water use, including parking lots at 100% capacity.June 8: Fiesta Island opens to pedestrians, dogs, and cyclists only.June 9: All piers and boardwalks within city limits reopen.June 12: Balboa Park Central Mesa reopens and all Balboa Park parking lots open at 100% capacity.July 6: Fiesta Island opens to vehicles.Gatherings are still prohibited and social distancing is still required at beaches and parks. Mayor Faulconer said active sports at the beach are still banned as well."We're continuing to make meaningful progress as we continue to reopen across San Diego," Faulconer said.This week, county beaches allowed visitors to sit, sunbathe, and relax on the sand, in addition to passive activities like walking and running.Ocean activities, like swimming, surfing, kayaking, and paddle-boarding continue to be allowed. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego is facing an Excessive Heat Warning Friday through Monday night, affecting businesses working outdoors and families working and teaching from home.The state issued a Flex Alert for Friday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. to relieve the power grid. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego firefighters Thursday are attempting to rescue a window washer stuck in a harness outside the fourth floor of an apartment complex in University City.The rescue started about 2:30 p.m. on Palmilla Dr. at Regents Rd. at the La Regencia Apartments.UPDATE: Firefighters lowered the window washer to the ground. The man was evaluated by paramedics. 396

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Residents in an Allied Gardens neighborhood say they woke up to guns drawn and shouts from FBI agents."I literally have goosebumps right now. It's sad," said Shiva Eftekhari.Around 6 a.m., agents executed a search warrant at a home in the 7100 block of Glenroy Street.  Throughout the morning and into the afternoon, agents collected bags and bags of evidence, including a computer. At one point, they were spotted trying to hammer open a safe in the driveway. 498
