SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — As former San Diego State star Kawhi Leonard readies for his Los Angeles Clippers debut Tuesday, another Aztec will also start the season on an active NBA roster.SDSU's Jalen McDaniels was signed to a multi-year contract and placed on the 17-man roster for the Charlotte Hornets Sunday, the team announced. McDaniels left SDSU after his sophomore season last spring and was picked 52nd overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.The 6-10 forward led the Aztecs in rebound average, total steals, and was second in scoring average last season. McDaniels signed with the Hornets on Oct. 10 under an unguaranteed Exhibit 10 contract, before the team converted it to a two-way contract on Saturday — meaning he could go back and forth between Charlotte's G League-affiliate, Greensboro Swarm, and the NBA. McDaniels participated in two preseason games with the Hornets, averaging 1.0 points and 0.5 rebounds in 5.3 minutes per game, according to the team.Sunday, the team bolstered his contract to a three-year, partially guaranteed contract ahead of the season opener. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Caltrans maintenance crews closed the westbound Interstate 8 connector to northbound state Route 67 at 9 p.m. Thursday night, but lanes were reopened at 5 a.m. Friday morning. The closure took effect for guardrail repair, according to Caltrans.Signs were posted to direct motorists on westbound I-8 to exit at West Main Street and turn left to eastbound I-8 to SR-67.Motorists were reminded to be work zone alert and slow down when approaching Caltrans vehicles with amber flashing lights.Caltrans says Californians can expect more roadway improvement projects like this made possible by the recently passed Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, Senate Bill 1.  715

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Condo and townhome sales increased more than 7 percent from April to May in San Diego County, while single-family home sales held steady, the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors reported Monday. Attached property sales increased 7.3 percent from 983 in April to 1,055 in May. Month-over-month sales of single-family homes increased by just 0.7 percent from 2,023 in April to 2,037 in May. Property sales, which plunged during the winter, have had steady increases since January. The price of single-family homes rose 1.2 percent from 2,200 in April to 0,000 in May. Attached property prices grew 3.3 percent from 0,000 in April to 4,000 in May. ``Sellers still have the upper hand in this market,'' said SDAR President Kevin Burke. ``However, buyers who take the time to research neighborhoods should find more homes for sale than they would have a year ago.''
