SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Southern California authorities say 18 pounds (8 kilograms) of fentanyl have been seized in Orange County — enough of the synthetic opioid to create four million lethal doses. The Orange County Register reports the seizure last week yielded almost half the amount of fentanyl seized by authorities in the county during all of 2018 — a sign the drug is quickly growing into a substantial public threat.Sheriff's officials say investigators served a search warrant and arrested 60-year-old Rudolph Garcia on multiple drug charges. It wasn't known if Garcia has an attorney.Investigators also seized a semi-automatic handgun, heroin, methamphetamine, and ,000 in cash.According to the California Department of Public Health, deaths in Orange County attributed to fentanyl have risen from 14 five years ago to 93 in 2018. 852

Searching for a home can be exciting, and frustrating, at the same time. Now, a San Diego realtor is aiming to take the headache -- and heartache -- out of finding a new piece of property in San Diego.Realtor Lauren Taylor said people know within the first two minutes of entering a home whether they're interested or not. "So it really doesn't make sense for a homebuyer to visit a property they haven't experienced on video yet," she said. Taylor launched Savvy Homes Portal, a tool that helps realtors shoot at 360 degree virtual walkthrough of homes on the market. That prospective buyer slides their smartphone into any virtual reality headset, and gets a guided tour by their own agent. Taylor said that could solve the issue of properties not living up to the highly edited photos in their online listings."A lot of our homebuyers started t say, this is not the house I saw online," she said. Taylor says about 30 agents have signed up for the service, which is free for homebuyers. She says it can especially help military families, who can have little time to find homes or are scheduling around deployments. For those who do view listings in person, Realtor.com says to look for red flags like too much scent, water damage, poor tiling, among others.  1304

Saudi Arabia regards the failed ballistic missile attack on Riyadh's international airport Saturday as an act of war by Iran and will take "appropriate" measures when the time is right, the country's Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed al-Jubeir told CNN Monday.Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for firing the projectile on Saturday, which was intercepted by Saudi defense forces before it hit the ground. Saudi Arabia and its Gulf allies accuse Iran of providing material support to the rebels."It was an Iranian missile, launched by Hezbollah, from territory occupied by the Houthis in Yemen," al-Jubeir told CNN, referring to Shia militias in Lebanon and Yemen closely allied to Tehran. 710

SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV)— The border shutdown at the San Ysidro Port of Entry Sunday created a ripple effect for transportation and nearby businesses. Many people were stranded at the port crossing for five hours before Homeland Security reopened the lanes in the evening. Christmas shopping at the Las Americas Outlet Mall came to an abrupt stop for Maria Martinez. "The mall was closed. They're very dangerous for us and the store,” Martinez said.RELATED: MAP: Migrant caravan forces closure of San Ysidro Port of Entry, San Diego interstatesThe Mexico City resident is on vacation to San Diego. She was shopping when she was told to leave the mall suddenly. Minutes prior, she claimed she saw a swath of caravan migrants rush the back of the mall, which the CBP denies."I saw the Salvadorenos people trying to cross the border,” Martinez said. “It was like watching a movie. I couldn’t believe it. I saw everything.”Customs and Border Protection closed off the San Ysidro Port of Entry late Sunday morning. Then the California Highway Patrol blocked off both the 805 and 5 Freeways south of the 905 interchanges. American federal agents in full tactical gear lined up along the border, at times using tear gas and rubber bullets to deter migrants.  "Over there, there was smoke and the noise of the gun,” Martinez said. At this point, there are no reports of any of the migrants successfully crossing the border. Martinez said she saw federal agents turn them around. The bus depot next to the mall was also closed, leaving shoppers like Martinez stuck and not knowing when they could get home. "I don't know. I think it's going to close the border. When everything is in peace, they are going to open. What time? I don't know,” Martinez said. By 5:15 pm, all operations at the San Ysidro Port of Entry resumed.  1883
