A Northern California family was forced to evacuate their home over the weekend, as the Carr wildfire continues to spread. Not only was the family tasked with getting themselves out, they also had to evacuate the animals on their rescue farm.Lisa Ellsworth runs Tiny Tim’s Pals, a pet rescue farm in El Dorado Hills, California.“It’s our family, yeah,” says Ellsworth. "We take ‘em in from—sometimes they’ve been abandoned; a lot have been abused, neglected.”This weekend, those animals needed to be rescued from their sanctuary, as the fire in Northern California moved frighteningly close to their farm.“All the sudden, our neighbors come drivin’ up and they’re like, ‘Get out! We’re being evacuated,’” recalls Ellsworth. “The police are coming around, so that’s the notice.”Because of the time constraints to get out, they had to abandon two pigs and two feral dogs that couldn’t be corralled into trailers in time. The animals the family could take, they brought to the Rolling Hills Equestrian Center.Terry Skevington, with the center, says it’s one of the few places that allows owners to bring animals of all shapes and sizes. The animals can even sleep on site with them.“I had an old couple park here and stay with their cats, because the hotels wouldn’t let them stay with their cats,” says Skevington. “To some of ‘em, that’s all they got left.”He says the outpouring of donations of items--like fans for the animal stalls, halters and even feed--has been overwhelming.As for Ellsworth, she doesn’t know the status of her home or the animals she left behind, but she says she’s been able to keep it off her mind by staying busy. Fortunately, Ellsworth has insurance. She says in the worst-case scenario, she’d use the money as an opportunity to build a new barn for her animals.Representatives for the Humane Society that serves the region say, overall, they’ve seen about 1,000 animals displaced since the Carr fire broke out. About 150 of those animals have been housed at Rolling Hills. The center’s operators here say those animals and their owners can stay as long as they need.  2118

A Spirit Airlines employee has been charged with allegedly stabbing a co-worker during an argument at Cleveland Hopkins Airport, according to a police report.Around 7 p.m. on Nov. 12, police were called to the Spirit Airlines ticket counter for an altercation between two employees.When they arrived, authorities found a male employee who said he had just been stabbed in the stomach with a pair of scissors by another employee, the report said.  According to the report, the victim said around 6:30 p.m. he was sitting on the "belt" behind the counter when a third employee told him he wasn't allowed to sit down.  The employee also told the victim the suspect, 39-year-old Vonda Gardner, had taken photographs of him sitting down.The victim approached Gardner about the photograph and Gardner denied taking any pictures and swore at him, the report said.According to the report, the victim told Gardner he wanted to have a discussion with management to resolve the situation, to which she replied: "don't worry about it, I got it taken care if."During this time, Gardner was typing an email on her computer while the victim was standing behind reading over her shoulder. When Gardner realized this, she turned her computer monitor off.The victim reached over, turned the monitor back on and was then stabbed by Gardner with a pair of scissors she had been holding, the report said.The victim grabbed the scissors from Gardner and ran to security.Gardner was charged with felonious assault and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 22. 1571

A Starbucks worker in New Jersey allegedly spat in police officers' drinks, officials said Tuesday.Park Ridge officers arrested Kevin Trejo, 21, on charges of subjecting a law enforcement officer to contact with bodily fluid, knowingly tampering with a cup of coffee while knowing it was ordered by a law enforcement officer and creating a hazardous or physically dangerous condition.In a statement, Park Ridge Police Chief Joseph Madden said Trejo was arrested after an investigation found that he spat in the drinks of officers who patronized the store where he worked.New Jersey State Policemen's Benevolent Association President Patrick Colligan called Trejo's alleged actions "outrageous.""Every time I think we as society hit bottom, there is a new incident," Colligan said. A Pennsylvania woman is accused of stabbing an 8-day-old baby last week, claiming the child was created "by the devil," WPXI-TV reported.According to WPXI, Tanishia Fielder, 32, was charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault after a man reported to police that he and the infant were stabbed by Fielder.Both the man and infant survived the incident, but their exact conditions were not disclosed. Fielder reportedly stabbed the infant near the baby's right eye. Fielder told police that God told her to kill the infant and dismember the body. The police said they found the knife hidden beneath a garbage bin behind the apartment building, WPXI reported.The man involved told police he and Fielder got into an argument earlier in the day and he saw her with a knife. 826
