Aldon Smith, who was the NFC's Defensive Player of the Year, has a warrant out for his arrest on Monday after a possible domestic incident from the weekend, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Smith is wanted on charges of misdemeanor domestic violence, assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, false imprisonment and vandalism, the Chronicle reported. Earlier the in the day, the Oakland Raiders released Smith. The incident in question was reportedly Saturday evening, and the victim identified Smith as the suspect. TMZ reported that Smith checked into a rehab facility on Monday. Smith has had frequent encounters with law enforcement. The Chronicle reported that Smith has three previous DUI arrests. He was also arrested in June 2012 when illegal weapons were found at his house during a party where two people were shot, and he was stabbed.  908

A Highlands County, Florida resident has died from rabies after being bitten by a bat, the Florida Department of Health has confirmed.The DOH says that the disease was likely transmitted when the individual was bitten by the bat. They say that the individual did not seek treatment at that time and did not receive rabies post-exposure prophylaxis. The individual passed away from the rabies infection.DOH says that it is important to avoid direct contact with wildlife. If you believe you may have been exposed to rabies, including any physical contact with a bat, contact your health care provider and your county health department right away.If an exposure occurred, it is important to administer treatment in a timely manner. ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A neighbor is describing a man's erratic behavior before deputies shot and killed him at an apartment complex in Alpine."It was so scary. Words can't describe it," said Kathryn. Kathryn says the sequence of events began around 2:15 pm. Monday in the Elan Summit apartments with a neighbor acting strangely. 339

Although four people were killed, and 10 others were wounded by a gunman targeting a Northern California elementary school on Tuesday, authorities said the incident could have been more tragic.According to Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston, when school administrators heard gunshots ringing out nearly 1/4 mile from the school, the school immediately went into lockdown mode without the prompting of police. This, Johnston said, prevented an even worse tragedy at the school.“The shooter took his vehicle and rammed their fence and gate and entered the (school) grounds on foot with a semi-automatic rifle,” Johnston said. “It appears he couldn’t make access to the room and he gave up and reentered the vehicle.”Johnston confirmed that no children from the school were killed, but one was wounded. Johnston said that after being thwarted at the school, he went on a rampage in the community, as there were seven different shooting locations throughout Rancho Tehama.The Corning Union School District commended the effort of its employees. "School staff is commended for their courageous and professional response to this terrible incident. The school was able to go on lockdown very quickly and effectively, which prevented any further injury or violence," the district said in a statement.Rancho Tehama Elementary School educates students Kindergarten through Grade 5. 1415
