SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A “rolling altercation” between two drivers in the Bonita area led to the stabbing death of one man and the detention of another. Chula Vista police Capt. Phil Collum told 10News the incident was reported just after 9 a.m. at the intersection of Sweetwater Road and Willow Street, near the Chula Vista Golf Course.Collum said officers that responded to the incident arrived to find an unidentified man lying on the ground with stab wounds. Life-saving measures were administered before he was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital. The man died from his injuries upon arrival, according to Collum.The other man, 60-year-old Rickey Smith, remained at the scene. Officers said they found a folding-blade knife, believed to be the weapon, on Smith's belt. He surrendered without incident, police said.Collum said witnesses reported the drivers of a white Ford Ranger pickup and silver Nissan Quest minivan yelling at each other before colliding. Smith left his truck and stabbed the victim, who was still in his minivan, police said. No other parties were involved, Collum told 10News. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A former San Diego Kaiser doctor who was caught watching child porn at work will have his license reinstated.The news of the reinstatement became available this week, in documents provided by the California Medical Board.Former psychiatrist Mark Zweifach went in front of the board three weeks ago for a hearing on reinstating his license. A video of the hearing recently became available to the public.For the first time on-camera, Zweifach describes his own shocking acts that still haunt him.LONGFORM: Former San Diego Kaiser doctor caught watching child porn at work tries to get his license back“Eleven years ago, on three occasions, I briefly viewed child pornography at my workplace,” he said.It was more than a decade ago that the admitted sex addict turned in his white coat, but the District Attorney's office didn't have enough evidence to bring criminal charges.California Medical Board paperwork reveals that the alarming discovery was made at a Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in El Cajon. Some of the paperwork reads, "While at work, on his Kaiser-issued computer, [he] viewed inappropriate images, including child pornography."“I didn't collect it. I didn't produce it. I didn't distribute it, but I viewed it,” he told the board during his recent hearing.RELATED: Other Team 10 investigationsSince then, Zweifach’s become an active part of the San Diego community, according to his online resumes. A 2014 La Jolla Light website article about a local puppet guild shows a photo of Zweifach as a puppeteer operating a large, red puppet.As of late July, he was listed as a board member of the San Diego Puppetry Guild’s website. The day after 10News reached out, his name was removed.Documents outline his road to rehabilitation, like a 12-step “Sexaholics Anonymous” program and “regular therapy.”During his recent hearing, he describes having confronted whatever happened to him as a kid that apparently made him vulnerable to addiction.“I did have a history of being exposed to childhood sexual experiences that profoundly affected me,” he explains.Zweifach also told the board that he’s had two relapses with viewing adult pornography, but it stopped there.“I thank God that in the last eleven years, I’ve been entirely free of viewing the underage images that led to the loss of my license,” he adds.Zweifach has expressed a great deal of remorse for his actions.His license will officially be reinstated on September 14th.Zweifach will be on five years of probation which includes a number of stipulations, including not treating minors. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A big rig blew a tire and veered across all lanes of southbound Interstate 15 at Carmel Mountain Road Thursday afternoon, leading to a Sig Alert on the freeway. The flatbed truck lost its front left tire about 2:20 p.m., the California Highway Patrol reported. The driver lost control and hit two cars before crashing into the center divider. One of the cars hit an SUV, and was knocked over the freeway rail into the HOV lanes.The CHP reported debris on the freeway from the crash, including fuel leaking from the truck. One injured person was taken to Palomar Medical Center, City of San Diego officials reported. Another driver had minor injuries.Check 10News traffic conditions The far left lane of I-15 and the right lane of the HOV section reopened at 5:45 p.m., according to the CHP. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --  It was a normal Thursday night for Rob Perelman. His Uber app was on and he was picking up passengers in San Diego. Then suddenly, things changed and his passengers got violent. You may have seen the video by now - a car crashing in Banker's Hill after the passengers began violently beating the driver.RELATED: Uber driver attacked by drunk passengersFriday, Perelman spoke for the first time about his early-morning attack. He told 10News what happened Friday morning isn't an Uber problem - they were just bad apples. "I've done 4,999 rides with good people," Perelman said. "And one with a bad person."Perelman gave that bad ride sometime after 1:00 a.m. Friday. He picked up the passengers in Banker's Hill and almost immediately realized they were drunk. "My gut feeling said to drive away," he said. "But I'm here to give people rides home, and I said you know what, 'we've all been the drunk guy just trying to get home from the bar, let me give these guys a ride home.'"MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodHe only made it two blocks. "The guy in the back seat starts puking out the window...and if he can't make it two blocks, he's definitely not going to make it 10 minutes," Perelman said. So he pulled over and asked the two to get out of his car. He told 10News that he even tried opening the door for one of them."Still nothing happening, so I say a third time, 'get out of the vehicle or I'm calling 911,'" Perelman said. That's when things got dangerous, and the passenger next to him attacked with a fury of punches."And he's not stopping, he's just beyond the point now," Perelman said. "Probably doesn't know what he's doing, just starts throwing punches at my head, I can't get him to stop. I've got my glasses on, he knocks my glasses off."Perelman says he was left with two options. Take the beating or jump out of the car. He took option two, jumping out of the car while it was still in drive and running to a nearby house to call the police.After the car crashed, the passengers seemed to have a moment of clarity and took off. Perelman says he left behind a shoe, a cell phone and ,000 dollars in damages to his car.Even though he had a bad experience, Perelman says he just wants to get back on the road. "I'm just happy that I was able to get out safely and I've got a few bruises on my head, but I was able to walk away, so I'm lucky that it didn't escalate," Perelman said. "I don't know if he has a gun or knife, I just said let me get out of the car I don't care about the vehicle right now."Since Uber knows who the men are, the plan now is to find them and press charges.10News reached out to Uber about the attack. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Three San Diego County sheriff's deputies were justified in fatally shooting an Alpine man who charged at them with a knife in his hand last fall, according to a report released Wednesday by the District Attorney's Office.Daniel Ayala, 31, was shot 10 times outside his apartment in the 2600 block of Alpine Boulevard last Nov. 12.Sgt. Chris Katra, Cpl. Sean McGillicuddy and Deputy Kevin Nulton responded to that address around 2:50 p.m. following reports that a man was screaming, talking about killing himself and others, and throwing items, according to a letter prepared by District Attorney Summer Stephan and addressed to San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore.Body camera footage from two of the lawmen was also released by the D.A.'s office.RELATED: Man who was fatally shot by deputies in Alpine identifiedAs the deputies approached the front door of Ayala's unit and knocked, announcing ``Sheriff's Department'' three times, Ayala opened the door, said ``What's up!'' and jabbed a knife twice through his metal screen door, the body-worn camera footage shows.The deputies backed up from the door as Nulton alerted the others by saying ``Knife, knife, knife.''Ayala then opened the screen door and advanced towards the lawmen, who opened fire, striking him mostly in the upper body, according to Stephan's letter.Ayala died at the scene.
