BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor, Jia Qinglin, attended a ground-breaking ceremony for construction of Beijing Hyundai Motor's third auto plant in Shunyi District in suburban Beijing Sunday. Prior to the ceremony, Jia met with Hyundai Motor Chairman Chung Mong-koo and other guests. China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) have been upgrading relations, as well as political and cultural exchanges, since the forging of diplomatic ties in 1992, Jia noted.Trade between the two countries topped 150 billion U.S. dollars during January-September this year, up 36.7 percent year on year. A joint-venture and subsidiary of Beijing Automotive Industry Holdings and Hyundai Motor, Beijing Hyundai was established in 2002 and manufactures Hyundai-branded automobiles for the Chinese market.While China' s economy has been growing at a stable and relatively fast pace, the automobile industry, a representative pillar sector in China, has shown robust growth and is expected to produce more than 15 million automobiles this year, Jia said.Also, the Chinese government has been encouraging automobile manufacturers to boost their research capacity and production of clean-energy-powered automobiles, seeking higher requirements for Beijing Hyundai in its future development, he said.Facing the new conditions, Beijing city and ROK Hyundai Motor must cooperate closely to improve high-technology and management levels to grasp the opportunities created by the boom in the Chinese automobile sector, he said.Beijing Hyundai's third plant, located in Yangzhen Township in Shunyi District, will have an annual production capacity of 400,000 vehicles when completed in 2012. BEIJING, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- More people enduring poor living conditions have been covered by China's social security system, according to the country's Ministry of Civil Affairs.Various figures disclosed during a national working conference held Monday by the Ministry in Beijing showed that as of November, about 75 million people had been provided with minimum living allowances, an increase of 5.4 percent from the same period of last year.In terms of medical services, 8.58 billion yuan (about 1.3 billion U.S. dollar) were spent in to aid nearly 60 million people in need in the first nine months of the year, up 28 percent than the same period last year.In addition, over one million vagrants and beggars with no means of support in cities had been receiving help as of December 2010.Also, the Ministry has set up aid centers for homeless juveniles in 40 counties and cities with 30 million yuan of the proceeds from the welfare lottery.

BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Finance said here Wednesday that it will sell a batch of 30-year long-term book-entry treasury bonds this week at a yield of 4.23 percent.The bonds, with a total face value of 28 billion yuan (about 4.2 billion U.S. dollars), will be sold over five days starting Thursday, said the ministry in a statement on its website.The bonds are the 40th batch of the kind to be sold by the ministry this year, and will be the fifth batch of 30-year T-bonds the ministry has sold this year.The bonds will become tradable on Dec. 15 through the national inter-bank bond market and over the counter at designated commercial banks. Interest will be paid every half year.
