The office of the county clerk put out a statement Wednesday urging couples wishing to tie the knot to make an appointment. “We are excited to offer walk-in services at our historic downtown office on the waterfront for Valentine’s Day and don’t want couples to miss their chance at Valentine’s Day wedding,” said County Clerk Ernie Dronenburg. San Diego Police said Monday that the department received hundreds of calls regarding illegal fireworks this holiday weekend.Despite canceled fireworks shows throughout the city, the department received 323 calls due to fireworks this year.The figure represents a significant uptick since last year, when the city received only 76 calls about fireworks.Despite the increase in calls, San Diego Police say they aren’t aware of any injuries due to the displays.The report comes after the City of San Diego announced that it would cancel this year’s Big Bay Boom to help halt the spread of COVID-19.According to San Diego Fire-Rescue, all consumer fireworks are illegal in the City of San Diego.That list includes sparklers, firecrackers, cherry bombs, bottle rockets, and even poppers.The National Fire Protection Association says that fireworks account for more than half of reported fires in the U.S. on Independence Day. 994
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Rolling Stones are postponing its 15-city North American tour due to the coronavirus outbreak.The band's "No Filter Tour" was set to kick off in San Diego on May 8 at SDCCU Stadium and visit cities including St. Louis, Austin, Louisville, Cleveland, and Atlanta.“We’re hugely disappointed to have to postpone the tour. We are sorry to all the fans who were looking forward to it as much as we were, but the health and safety of everyone has to take priority. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a man died in Fallbrook late Friday night.Deputies responded to the 440 block of Ammunition Road around 10:40 p.m. to assist the North County Fire Department with an injured man.When deputies arrived, they found a man identified as Nicolas Ramirez suffering from an unknown traumatic injury.Ramirez was then taken to the hospital where he later died.
