Stress and pressure can lead to overeating, but nutritionists say a healthy diet is a better choice for managing what life throws at you. We looked into how nutrition can play a role in helping you rebound from these tough times. “At your physical healthiest that’s going to be the condition that supports your best mental wellness as well,” said University of Arizona Assistant Professor of Nutritional Sciences Ann Skulas-Ray.Skulas-Ray says in times like these, you want to give your yourself what you need. A poor diet is more like giving yourself the flu.“Think about when you are sick, so you have all this inflammation in your body. Have you ever tried to do your best work under those conditions when your whole body is inflamed? It doesn’t work,” Skulas-Ray said. She says the first step is to cut down on the junk. Highly processed foods, refined sugars and corn syrup feel good in the moment, but are not a recipe for long-term happiness.Skulas-Ray says there are a million diets out there, but she says most people can benefit from keeping it simple. Eat more fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, and fatty fish.“Omega-3s are a good one, because the brain is actually made out of omega-3s," she said. "They are directly responsible for regulating inflammation in the body.”You also don't have to make drastic life changes overnight. Minor changes over time can go a long way.“Nobody eats a perfect diet, it's just about small changes you make over time,” she said. “And you should feel good about each incremental improvement.” This article was written by Brian Brennan for KGUN. 1616

Chris Hopkinson wanted to challenge himself, so he came up with a plan to paddle board the Chesapeake Bay. The whole Bay!"The physical mission was to paddle the bay; the real goal is to raise money for Oyster Recovery Partnership," he said. That goal of paddling 200 miles in 9 days was a daunting task."It's like a marathon everyday," he said.So with a goal of 20 to 30 miles a day, Hopkins took off from the Havre De Grace and headed down the bay to the Atlantic Ocean. He grew up around the bay but got a better understanding of it's beauty."When I'm coming down the Honga River and there's nobody around and there's just water and green and untouched beauty, you really get an appreciation for the beauty of the bay."Hopkinson knew this was going to be quite a physical challenge but Mother Nature decided to make it a little more interesting."Pretty high winds, 10 to 15 knots, which was creating some pretty good wave, 2 to 3 feet and then we had much cooler than normal temperatures."And that was the first day. Chris knew out of 9 days, not all were going to be good, but taking a punch in the face on the first day had him rethinking this adventure. He was motivated from those following his journey."I mean, I got hundreds of text messages and social media posts and emails from people just saying how much they were behind me and how excited they were. I think everybody really liked having a break from all the really bad news to follow something really good."So, on the 7th day he had heavy winds blowing from the side and head on and high waves and had to stop, his shortest day yet, 17 miles... 3 miles shy of goal for the day."I just couldn't take it."So, with that challenge from Mother Nature, what does he do the next day?"I took that day personally and the next day we had our best day which was 36 miles."And then just one day left, off he goes with a little encouragement from his wife, Megan. And he did get it done. Hopkinson raised 0,000 so far, right at their goal of 0,000. When a donation puts a thousand oysters in the bay, a marathon a day seems worth it. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in an address Thursday that intelligence from "multiple sources" indicates that the Ukrainian jetliner that crashed on Tuesday was shot down by an Iranian surface to air missile. Trudeau said the intelligence was confirmed by both Canada "and its allies." He added that the incident "may have been unintentional." Trudeau's address came hours after two U.S. officials said it was “highly likely” that an Iranian anti-aircraft missile downed the Ukrainian plane, killing all 176 people on board. At least 63 of those victims were Canadian citizens.“On behalf of all Canadians, I want to express my deepest condolences to those who are mourning the loss of a loved one,” said Trudeau. “Your loss is indescribable, and this is a heartbreaking tragedy.”When asked if he thought the United States was at least partially responsible for the deaths of Canadians on board the plane, Trudeau said it was "too early to draw conclusions."In the coming days, Trudeau says his government will continue to work closely with its partners to ensure that the crash is thoroughly investigated. “Canadians have questions and they deserve answers,” said Trudeau. President Donald Trump is suggesting he believes Iran was responsible. He is dismissing Iranian claims that it was a mechanical issue that brought down the plane — and is denying any U.S. responsibility. The crash came just a few hours after Iran launched a ballistic missile attack against Iraqi military bases housing U.S. troops amid a confrontation with Washington over a U.S. drone strike that killed an Iranian Revolutionary Guard general. 1647
