Due to the pandemic, this year’s event was canceled, so a salon in Palm Harbor, Florida decided to do their own internal competition.They aren’t just hairdos, they are works of art at Salon Bella Flora.“I kept getting the comments like, ‘Are you kidding me, this is awesome,'” said owner Flora Paskalakis Stoltz.Before Stoltz owned her own salon, she was traveling the world, cutting and combing hair, against the best of the best.“When you are at the world championships, it’s like being in a huge stadium and there’s hundreds of competitors competing at one time and it's intense,” said Stoltz.So as a way to boost staff morale during a difficult year, she decided to hold her own competition. OTAY MESA, Calif. (KGTV) — Six correctional officers and two inmates at Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility were hospitalized Sunday after officials said a group of prisoners attacked the officers in a recreation yard.The incident was reported at the prison just before 4 p.m., according to the California Department of Correction and Rehabilitation. About 20 inmates were in the facility's recreation yard when some began to attack the officers.The six officers suffered stab wounds, lacerations, and possible broken bones and were taken to a nearby hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known.Two inmates were also taken to outside hospitals for treatment. Other inmates involved were taken to the prison's medical facility for treatment.Officials are not sure how many inmates were involved in the attack, but say that they ignored commands to stop, forcing less-lethal measures to be used. A warning shot was fired and additional officers responded to the yard.Several weapons were reportedly recovered at the scene.The four suspects were identified as Joe Mendez, 39, Luis Delgado, 24, Michael Figueroa, 20, and William Barba, 41. Those involved could also face charges of attempted murder of a peace officer.Nearly one year ago, five inmates were injured in a riot involving about 80 inmates at the prison. Prior to that, three inmates suffered stab wounds in a seven-on-one fight in the facility in April 2019. In February 2019, a fight between 50 inmates left at least 10 prisoners injured.According to the prison's reports online, 204 use of force incidents were reported in 2019. OTAY MESA, Calif., (KGTV) — Thursday's Caliente Fire turned into a massive blaze at a pallet yard in Otay Mesa, a fire that has burned nearly 500 acres.The business owners returned to the yard Friday to find devastation, as the blaze remained 75% contained.This is not a dream. The life that Francisco and Carolina Ramirez built is now gone. "You're hoping that it will you will wake up in the morning and go back as usual. But you realize when you wake up, it's real," Francisco Ramirez said. RELATED: Cause of Caliente Fire in Otay Mesa under investigationTwenty-five years ago, the couple had the idea to recycle unwanted wood plants and turn them into pallets. It was an effort to help Mother Nature. But on Thursday, it was Mother Nature that destroyed their business, Atlas Wood Pallets. "It's like we've been into a war. And then after that, we only see ashes," Ramirez said. Ramirez says his yard was a small city made of 60,000 pallets. But 99.9% of his inventory is now ash. The 8-foot loading dock is now a swimming pool of dirt.
