The American Bald Eagle, a federally protected bird once considered endangered, is facing a new threat.Conservationists say the birds are being poisoned, and the number of cases are rising — and some worry the problem will not slow down.Last year, the U.S. Department of Interior lifted a ban on hunting with lead bullets on wildlife refuges. However, it's still illegal to use lead ammo to hunt waterfowl. Many hunters say they use lead ammunition because it is heavier than steel or copper, meaning the bullet reaches the target more accurately. Lead ammo is also cheaper than steel or copper.Betsy Finch is the manager of the Fontenelle Forest Raptor Recovery, which holds dozens of birds of all kinds that need help until they are well enough to be freed or put to rest. She can easily tell when an eagle has lead poisoning."Inability to stand, convulsions, head tremors, difficulty breathing, gastrointestinal distress — because lead paralyzes the gut, so they can't digest food, dehydration," Finch said. The start of 2018 has been hard for Finch, putting her time and energy into sometimes a losing effort."Because there are others that need our help," she said. While she hopes hunters will think twice before firing off their rifles with lead bullets, she doesn't blame all hunters for the rising amounts of lead poisoning. Finch says it's often the hunter who are are the ones who find the sick eagles and bring them to the recovery center. 1490

The body of missing journalist Jamal Khashoggi was cut into pieces after he was killed two weeks ago at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, a Turkish official told CNN on Tuesday. The claim, which was first made to the New York Times earlier in the investigation, comes after Turkish officials searched the consulate for nine hours on Monday night.President Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier Tuesday said Turkish investigators were looking into "toxic" and "painted over material" as part of their inquiry."My hope is that we can reach conclusions that will give us a reasonable opinion as soon as possible, because the investigation is looking into many things such as toxic materials and those materials being removed by painting them over," Erdogan told reporters.Turkish officials have said privately that Khashoggi was killed in the consulate on October 2 after he arrived to obtain papers that would have allowed him to marry his Turkish fiancée.Turkish investigators were expected to carry out a search of the Saudi Consul General's residence in Istanbul later on Tuesday. CCTV footage, which has served as a focal point in the investigations, showed vehicles moving from the consulate building to the nearby Consul General's residence on October 2.The semiofficial Anadolu news agency said Saudi's Istanbul Consul General, Mohammed Otaibi, had left the country. 1368

TAMPA, Fla. — If you’ve decided to keep your child home this semester for virtual learning, you may need to step up your shopping list game — because comfort is key!“They experience strain just like we do,” said Dr. Erin Mitchell, a Chiropractor in Clearwater. That strain on their neck and back can keep them from concentrating on the work in front of them plus, it hurts.“We shouldn’t be seeing kids with headaches. All of this stuff are symptoms of something going wrong that needs to be corrected,” she said. The corrections are pretty simple. Get a chair that fits your child or retrofit a chair for them.“For children, you want to make sure that the knees are going to be at the edge of the seat. Obviously for me, I don’t need that but if not you can also crop a pillow behind here,” Mitchell said, as she points to space between her back and the chair. Also, get a footstool to rest their feet on if they can’t touch the ground.Ankles, knees, and arms should be at a 90-degree angle, and don’t forget the computer.“You wanna make sure that your screen is right at eye level,” Dr. Mitchell said.Another headache trigger is the damaging blue light that comes from your laptop or computer screen. You can get glasses that block that.“It messes with your natural melatonin production which is what regulates your sleeping cycle,” she said. But most important, Dr. Mitchell says kids need to get up and move every 30 minutes to an hour.“We’re kind of designed to move. We’re not designed to sit for long periods of time and that’s gonna help with the kid's comfort as well as their concentration,” she said.Set timer as a reminder and change up the activities.Pictures of the "do’s and don'ts" were provided by AL-Inclusive Therapy Services and can be found on its website. Starbucks is the latest food chain to add plant-based meat options to its U.S. menus. The Seattle coffee chain said Tuesday they now offer a breakfast sandwich made with imitation sausage from Impossible Foods at a majority of its U.S. locations. The sandwich comes with egg and cheese on a ciabatta bun.Starbucks said earlier this year that it would add plant-based meat to its menus worldwide as part of an effort to reduce its environmental impact. The company has sold milk alternatives, such as soy milk and oat milk, in the U.S. and elsewhere. But the sausage is its first plant-based food item in the U.S. 619
