SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — While San Diego has several desirable neighborhoods, Solana Beach may take the cake.That's according to a recent survey by financial website 24/7 Wall St., which named the coastal city one of the best places to live in America. Solana Beach ranked seventh on the list of 50 cities, based on its walkability, commute times, and attractions."Located less than 30 minutes from downtown San Diego, area residents have access to jobs and entertainment located in the major urban area," the website wrote. "The city is also home to one of only three train stations in San Diego County, providing commuters more options. For recreation, the city boasts 1.7 miles of beach, and a higher than average per capita concentration of restaurants, gyms, museums, and movie theaters."The website used data affordability, economy, quality of life, and community to develop its best cities list. Things like crime rates, number of restaurants, employment, income, taxes and home value, and health care statistics all factored into the site's analysis.Cities that made the list included:1. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Video of a mystery car prowler is helping bring neighbors in Allied Gardens together.Along Estrella Avenue early Friday morning, Thomas Arevalo found his 2010 Honda Accord missing from the street in front of his home. Inside the trunk were hundreds of dollars worth of equipment belonging to the Rock Church baseball ministry.When one neighbor learned of the theft, he searched through his surveillance video and saw something suspicious. Just before 5 a.m., just feet away from where that car was parked, was a man wearing a hat and holding a skateboard, going from vehicle to vehicle to vehicle.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhood"Just brazen with not a care in the world. Just looking through cars with a flashlight ... shopping for whatever he wants out of someone's car," said Arevalo.Investigators are taking a close look at the video and so is the rest of the neighborhood after it was posted on the Nextdoor app."Our neighborhood is coming together," said Arevalo.There have been dozens of responses to the post. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Veterans looking for a job during the Coronavirus Pandemic are learning to use virtual job fairs to grow their careers."It's sometimes difficult, but overall it's been a positive experience," says Army Veteran Steven Padilla, who has been looking for a job since March."You can only do so much interacting. You can't shake hands. You can't wait in line for a conversation."Padilla says his job search has been more difficult since the Pandemic hit. Companies have stopped hiring or removed job postings.He's not alone in looking for a job. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Veteran Unemployment skyrocketed during the Pandemic, peaking at 11.8% in April. That means more people competing for fewer positions.But RecruitMilitary.com, the Army's primary contractor for helping service members transition from the Army to civilian employment, says there are still plenty of jobs. They're hosting multiple virtual job fairs every week to help veterans find one."It's really just a way to dip your toes in the water and visiting a lot of companies," says Chris Stevens, the Vice President of RecruitMilitary.com.He says the company has gone from holding about 15 virtual job fairs each year to more than 130 planned for 2020."It's just like any other typical chat room," Stevens says. "Candidates and companies can go into private chats. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --  On Monday a settlement was reached in two cases against San Diego Sheriff's Deputy Richard Fischer. Those settlements come to a total of more than 0,000. 10News has been covering the story since November when a victim shared her story with Reporter Steve Fiorina. The Sheriff's Department opened an investigation into Fischer last fall after a woman claimed he groped her while responding to a service call.The investigation then expanded to more than a dozen incidents against Fischer dating back to 2015.RELATED: San Diego County sheriff's deputy accused of sexual misconduct pleads not guiltyThe 32-year-old deputy is on unpaid leave and out on bail pending criminal court cases. At his February arraignment in a Vista courtroom, Fischer pleaded not guilty to all charges.
