SPRING VALLEY (CNS) - A juvenile driving a stolen minivan led deputies on a 15-minute East County road chase Tuesday before bailing out of the still- rolling vehicle near Sweetwater Reservoir and making a failed attempt to escape on foot.The chase began shortly after 8:30 a.m., when a deputy spotted the occupied van in the area of Bancroft Drive and Troy Street in Spring Valley and determined that it had been reported missing by the operators of a group home in the area on Monday, according to sheriff's officials.When the deputy tried to pull him over, the boy behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle drove off and refused to yield, Sgt. Scott Roller said. The youth sped to the south and east over various streets before jumping out of the moving vehicle in a school zone on La Presa Avenue and fleeing on foot.The suddenly driverless minivan continued traveling down the street briefly, then crashed to a halt against a jersey wall. Deputies caught up with the underage suspect a short time later and took him into custody.The boy, whose name was withheld because he is a minor, was taken to a hospital for evaluation of minor injuries he suffered while trying to outrun the pursuing patrol personnel, Roller said.The sergeant declined to release the suspect's age, citing ongoing investigation in the case. 1322

Some fall sports at colleges in at least one conference will delay all competitions until September 1.The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Thursday the sports of cross country, field hockey, soccer and volleyball will delay their competitive matches for men’s and women’s teams. Typically, exhibition or non-conference games would take place in August.“The decision allows each campus to further focus on ensuring return to competition protocols are in place to facilitate the resocialization process,” the statement reads.The ACC includes Duke, Boston College, University of Notre Dame, Syracuse, Clemson University, FLorida State, University of Louisville, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Pittsburgh, Virginia and Virginia Tech.The statement from the conference makes no mention of other sports, including football. ANTHONY, Idaho — Lori Vallow Daybell faces additional charges in connection to the disappearance and death of her children.Vallow was charged late Monday with two counts of conspiracy to commit destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence. The new charges are felonies.According to East Idaho News, Vallow will make an initial court appearance on the new charges Tuesday afternoon at 4:30. Vallow and her attorney, Mark Means, will appear remotely from the Madison County Jail.The charges come after Rexburg police served a search warrant the home of her husband, Chad Daybell, in Salem, Idaho, on Monday. Officers went into the house, exterior buildings, and in the backyard with cameras. They left with brown evidence bags, but it is unknown if the search is tied to Vallow's new charges.Vallow was arrested in Hawaii in March in connection with her missing children, 17-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua "JJ" Vallow. She was extradited back to Idaho and charged with felony desertion and nonsupport of children along with three misdemeanors. She's remained in the Madison County Jail on a million bond.Vallow is expected to appear in court on July 9 and 10 if needed for a preliminary hearing. Judge Michelle Radford Mallard will appear over the case, scheduled to start at 9 a.m. local time both days.Police discovered JJ's and Tylee's remains in Daybell's backyard on June 9.
