SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Neighbors in Ocean Beach and Point Loma are hoping new surveillance video will help arson investigators find whomever is responsible for a series of fires over the weekend. The video was taken from a yard near one of the fires. It shows a man walking in and out of frame then moments later, neighbors say, another fire stared. The fires all happened early Saturday morning within hours and just miles of each other. Arson investigators are calling the fires suspicious , all of them started in people's backyards. San Diego Police tell 10News they're still working to find out if the fires are related and also looking at the surveillance video to find out if the man in the video is a suspect. Detectives ask that anyone else with video, turn it over to the department. 799

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) One day after a woman was hit and killed crossing El Cajon Boulevard, a local business group is demanding change. The 63-year-old woman was hit by an SUV while crossing El Cajon Boulevard near 46th Street in the Talmadge area Monday around 5 p.m. "We're devastated. Unfortunately, I actually get news like this almost every week," said Beryl Forman, Marketing and Mobility Coordinator of the El Cajon Boulevard Business Improvement Association.The woman who was killed was not in a crosswalk. Forman said a lack of crosswalks is just one of the problems. The association purchased a speed indicator sign that is now posted on El Cajon Boulevard near 50th Street. The group was planning to present the sign to the Mid-City Police Department during an event Tuesday evening, but is using the time to hold a vigil in memory of the woman who died.The office of San Diego City Council President Georgette Gomez issued the following statement regarding the group's concerns. "Investments in pedestrian safety have been a priority for me in every budget discussion since I first took office. I have requested resources for the Safe Routes to Schools program, the City's Vision Zero project, and the El Cajon Boulevard Complete Boulevard Plan. These plans include improvements that increase pedestrian safety such as crosswalks, bulb-outs, new sidewalks, and street lighting. The City is investing in these projects and has also been securing grant funds from state and federal sources.Earlier this year, the Mayor announced the completion of safety improvements at 15 of San Diego's most accident-prone intersections and secured funding for hundreds more. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One of the San Diego Zoo's oldest residents was euthanized due to age-related illnesses Wednesday.The zoo's male African lion, M'bari, had been suffering from a degenerative kidney, large kidney cyst, and spinal arthritis and under veterinary care before the decision was made to put him down, according to park spokesperson Andrew Jones.At 15-years-old, M'bari had exceeded expectations of a lion's average lifespan, which is about 10 years in the wild and can exceed 25 years in captivity, according to the zoo."In recent days, his condition had steadily worsened, despite attempts by animal care staff to modify his habitat to make him more comfortable," a statement from the zoo read. "This morning, because of his worsening quality of life, animal care staff made the difficult decision to humanely euthanize him."M'bari was introduced to locals at the San Diego Wild Animal Park in 2004 with the opening of Lion Camp when he was about two years old. He eventually moved to the San Diego Zoo in 2009, and has most recently lived with his mate, Etosha, in the Harry and Grace Steele Elephant Odyssey habitat. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are asking that additional victims come forward in a San Diego sexual assault case. According to police, Seth Roberts, 18, was arrested on December 5 for multiple sexual assaults around San Diego County that happened between early October and late November. Based on the circumstances of the cases, the San Diego Police Department Sex Crimes Unit is looking for additional victims or anyone with information. According to police, Roberts reportedly identified himself to young women and befriended them by telling them he’s from out-of-state before sexually assaulting them. According to public records, Roberts was previously arrested in Oklahoma for harboring a runaway child felon. Records also show that in April of 2018, a permanent protective order was issued against Roberts in Oklahoma. The order was filed on behalf of a 16-year-old who says Roberts inappropriately touched her even after she asked him to stop. The protective order goes on to say the victim's mother wanted criminal charges filed, but none are listed. He is currently being held on ,250,000 bail.
