SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — State officials responded earlier this week to a technical glitch that impacted as many as 300,000 COVID-19 test results being reported."We are committed to the medium and long term to address these foundational data issues so that we can approve our importance and our customer service," Gov. Gavin Newsom said earlier this week. Counties across the state felt the impact of the data inaccuracies. Local leaders use numbers and science to guide decision making. But are counties themselves having any issues with the numbers? In Kern County, public health officials were asked at the end of July if they're 100% sure no one is getting double-counted. The county says they have had to go back and subtract some people from the total number of cases when they realized they counted that person more than once, but stress that's rare.In San Diego and San Luis Obispo Counties, officials said they're confident in the daily numbers they are reporting to the public."I'm quite confident our numbers are accurate. Before we had web CMR and our tests are not all phoned through CalREDIE. Our test results are reported directly to the county," County Public Health Officer Wilma Wooten said. "The only issue which you already know about is the glitch with Quest which was going through the state and then coming to us so we are fairly confident our information is accurate."A spokesperson for San Luis Obispo County says they are confident in the number of positive cases reported:"We regularly run data queries on our positive case results to search for duplicates. On occasions, duplicates have been detected and counts adjusted appropriately."ABC 10News asked the California Department of Public Health about data accuracy, duplicates, and decision making. They did not respond to our request for comment. 1828

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A burglary victim is hoping doorbell camera video will help track down some thieves who hunt down garage remotes before raiding the garage. Ring video shows a man on his stomach, around 2 a.m. Saturday, in Curtis Both's driveway off Morena Boulevard. In his hand is Both's garage door opener."My car was ransacked. The remote was in the center console," said Both. The man in the video likely pushed the button for the garage, just slightly. "He wanted to peer in to see what was there," said Both.Moments later, the garage door is heard opening. The man then walks in, before eventually leaving. About two hours later, that man is back with a friend. A camera mounted inside the garage shows them collecting items from the garage."Horrible. A complete violation," said Both.Airsoft gear, ski equipment, power tools, a pricey road bike were among the items that would vanish.A week earlier, about a mile away, a man with a similar backpack and high socks was recorded putting down the backpack and getting on his knees to shine a flashlight at a garage door. Soon after, he's seen heading across the street. That light inside Matt Friend's SUV comes on. Tucked in the door panel is the garage remote. Eventually, Friend's garage door open is seen opening."We were sleeping inside, with two sons in the other room, two- and three-year-old boys and my wife is pregnant so it's disheartening to think somebody is on our premise without us knowing," said Friend. The thief would get away with several items, including friend's ,000 Intense mountain bike."Some of the violation feels like they're just coming to our neighborhood and treating it like a department store, and they have no fear," said Both. Both victims say they almost always lock their car doors and aren't sure how the thief broke into their vehicles. 1840

Zahau's family will be awarded million in punitive damages.Jurors were asked two main questions: Did Adam Shacknai touch Rebecca Zahau (before she died) with the intent to harm her? Did that touching cause her death? Jurors determined "yes" in both instances. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday that they are standing by their findings that Zahau committed suicide. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A 4.9-magnitude earthquake and several smaller shakeups recorded in Imperial County on Wednesday were reportedly felt in San Diego County. The swarm of earthquakes was centered around the Westmorland area. While many of the smaller quakes were recorded between 2.5- and 3.7-magnitude, about 80 earthquakes measuring at least 2.5-magnitude were recorded between 4 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.The largest earthquake as of 5:45 p.m. registered at 4.9-magnitude, according to the agency's latest earthquakes map.Seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones tweeted that Wednesday's series of earthquakes was one of the largest swarms Imperial Valley has seen, adding that the area is historically active in swarms."The swarm happening now south of the Salton Sea, near Westmoreland is over 30 km south of the end of the San Andreas," Jones tweeted. "It is in the Brawley seismic zone, a common source of swarms. So far largest is M4.4. Too far from the San Andreas to change the probability of a quake on it." 1004

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego State University football team announced Friday it has added a game against the Brigham Young University Cougars in December to complete its shortened schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The team initially received its schedule from the Mountain West Conference Thursday with a "TBA" game on Dec. 12. That game will now be played against BYU in Provo, Utah.It will be the second straight season that SDSU ends its regular season with the Cougars. Last year on Nov. 30, San Diego State defeated BYU, 13- 3, in what ended up being the Aztecs' final football game at SDCCU Stadium to snap a six-game losing streak in the series and improve to 8-21-1 all-time against Brigham Young. The BYU game will be the sole non-conference game for the Aztecs, excepting any possible post-season play.San Diego State opens its season at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, against UNLV on Oct. 24. The Aztecs will not be playing in SDCCU Stadium this season as it is being demolished to make way for the new Aztec Stadium at SDSU West Campus. The Aztecs are coming off a 10-3 season in 2019, capped by a 48-11 win over Central Michigan in the New Mexico Bowl.San Diego State hits the road for the first time on Oct. 31, when it travels to Utah State for a Halloween clash. The Aztecs play host to Colorado State on Dec. 5 for Senior Night.SDSU is also expected to play a non-conference game on Dec. 12 against an opponent to be determined. This year, all 12 teams will compete in one division and the two teams with the highest winning percentage of Mountain West games will play in the conference championship game on Dec. 19.
