BEIJING, July 4 (Xinhua) -- China's weather forecast authorities on Sunday said the heat that had been bearing down on many parts of the country would continue for a few more days.Sweltering weather, with temperatures over 35 degrees Celsius, could be expected in at least 13 provinces and regions across China, the National Meteorological Center said.In Beijing, the local meteorological bureau upgraded the heat alert on Sunday from blue to yellow, two steps below the top alert. LOS ANGELES, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- The 2010 U.S.-China Real Estate Summit kicked off Thursday in San Gabriel, Los Angeles with the aim of building relations between top real estate players in the two countries.During the two-day summit, officials from all levels of both countries and experts in real estate-related areas will discuss U. BEIJING, July 5 (Xinhua) -- China and Britain on Monday pledged to enhance military ties.The pledge came out of the meeting between Vice Chairman of China's Central Military Commission Guo Boxiong and visiting British Chief of Defense Staff Jock Stirrup.The military relationship is an important component of China-Britain relations, and the two sides have witnessed frequent exchange of high-level visits and fruitful cooperation in many fields, Guo said.He said China's armed forces attached importance to the friendly cooperation with the British armed forces, and would work with it to enhance mutual trust and expand cooperation.Stirrup echoed Guo saying the military relationship was very important and the British side hoped to strengthen military cooperation with China.The two sides also discussed the development of China-Britain relations and international and regional issues of common concern.Highlighting the development of China-Britain relations in recent years, Guo said the bilateral relationship is at a new historic starting point. ZHOUQU, Gansu, Aug. 19 (Xinhua)-- More than 1,700 mudslide evacuees presently residing at schools in Zhouqu county of northwest China's Gansu Province are to be relocated as students will start the new semester soon, local authorities said Thursday.More than 400 households, altogether over 1,700 people, will be moved to Shachuan Village, in western of the mudslides-leveled county, said Yang Jianguo, head of the Civil Affairs Bureau of Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture which administers Zhouqu.The people are now living in dormitories and classrooms of three local schools, namely No.1 High School, No.1 Junior High and No. 3 Junior High. With students coming back from their summer vacation, the schools could no longer be used as settlement areas.More than one thousand tents will be erected at the new settlement zone covering an area of 67 mu (4.5 hectares), with three tents for each family, said Yang."They probably will have to spend the winter there so winter tents will be used," said Yang.The devastating mudslides which hit on Aug. 8 have claimed 1,364 lives with 401 people still missing as of 4 p.m. Thursday.Work crews will level the ground, ensure water and electricity supply and build lavatories from Aug. 21 to 23. They will start setting up tents on Aug. 24, said Yang.The new semester for junior school students and pupils will begin on Aug. 25 and senior high students will be transferred to other cities in the province, and start the new semester in early September.
