(KGTV) -- A plan meant to increase safety along Del Mar's famous coastal bluffs is being met with deep resistance by residents, surfers and walkers.North County Transit District says it has obtained grants to fund building a fence to protect the train tracks on the bluffs. "I understand it's a safety hazard since they're upping the frequency of the trains, but I don't think it's going to go over well."Del Mar Mayor Dwight Worden said the fencing is an overreaction. He said a better plan is to increase education, signage, citizen enforcement, and to build protected legal crossings. Residents and surfers say people would cut through or climb the fence, and that could trap them if a train comes - and that the fence could cut off an escape route in the event of a wildfire. They also cringe at the aesthetics.RELATED: Researchers tracking crumbling Del Mar bluffs"The idea that we have no access to the beach and have a fence in front of us is not a good idea," said Karla Leopold, whose home overlooks the ocean and bluffs. Del Mar is also discussing placing four legal crossings at various parts of the city, but that would require a 0,000 feasibility study. DEL MAR (CNS) - Two horses that died when they collided while training at the Del Mar Racetrack last summer were processed into animal by-products instead of being taken to a UC Davis Animal Health and Safety Laboratory per protocol, it was reported Friday.The two horses killed in the July 18 head-on collision -- Charge A Bunch and Carson Valley -- were taken to a rendering plant near the El Sobrante Landfill in Corona, where they were processed into products such as fertilizer and bone meal before their remains were sent to the landfill, the Los Angeles Times reported."I got a call first thing in the morning after the accident saying the horses never arrived," Dr. Rick Arthur, equine medical director for the California Horse Racing Board, told the newspaper.Del Mar track officials got a call from the California Horse Racing Board because, by statute, it is the track's responsibility to get the bodies to the testing laboratory, according to The Times, which reported that an investigation found that Stiles Animal Removal was at fault for the mistake."The owner of Stiles admitted that he forgot to inform the new driver of this requirement (to take the remains to the state lab)," according to a CHRB investigators report.Mike Martin, spokesman for the CHRB, told the newspaper he contacted Mac McBride, Del Mar's media director, one day after the mistake was discovered and they spoke the day after that."Mac said that Del Mar would make an announcement as soon as a CHRB investigation was complete," Marten told the newspaper.Del Mar has made no public statement since the investigation concluded, but a statement by Chief Operating Officer Josh Rubinstein was given to The Times last week."As soon as the CHRB made us aware of the error by the contractor responsible for transport to the necropsy facility, Del Mar responded immediately and appropriately, including terminating that vendor," Rubinstein said. "Although the error was made by a vendor and not Del Mar personnel, it is our responsibility to see that the proper protocols are followed. DEERFIELD, Ill. – Walgreens says it’s partnering with a primary care company to open full-service doctor's offices at hundreds of its drugstores.The pharmacy chain announced Wednesday that an expanded partnership with VillageMD will allow them to open 500 to 700 “Village Medical at Walgreens” primary care clinics in more than 30 markets in the next five years. They intend to build hundreds more after that.Most of the clinics will be approximately 3,300 square feet each, with some as large as 9,000 square feet. Walgreens says they will optimize existing space in stores, which will also still provide a range of retail products to customers.Walgreens says the clinics will integrate the pharmacist as a critical member of VillageMD’s multi-disciplinary team to deliver quality health care to patients. The clinics will also be staffed by more than 3,600 primary care providers, who will be recruited by VillageMD.The clinics will accept a wide range of health insurance options and offer comprehensive primary care across a broad range of physician services, according to Walgreens.To help those who struggle to find health care providers, the company says more than 50% of clinics will be located in medically underserved areas designated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.“These clinics at our conveniently located stores are a significant step forward in creating the pharmacy of the future, meeting many essential health needs all under one roof as well as through other channels,” said Stefano Pessina, executive vice chairman and CEO, Walgreens Boots Alliance.“In the U.S., we spend trillion per year on health care, over 85% of that is tied to patients with chronic diseases. DETROIT, Mich. - The number of passengers flying daily in the United State is growing but we’re only seeing a 40% total traffic when compared to a year ago.So airlines are still forced to operate on reduced schedules, some telling us it has created a flight booking headache.With travel down by about 70%, it's been a rough go for the airline industry, but passengers tell me there have been some upsides."Rescheduling the flight was a piece of cake," said one traveler."There's like no one in the middle seat, that’s super nice," said another traveler.Middle seats blocked, no change fees, and more lenient cancellations policies have all made flying much more appealing but traveling during the pandemic also mean dealing with a lot of changes."Saying it was frustrating is an understatement, it was utter chaos," said Kellie McDaniel.McDaniel of Monroe was thrilled about her November trip to the US Virgin Islands, that is until a change by the airline made it so that."Our connecting flights would not match up," said McDaniel.Now, the company did offer her a refund because they could not fix the issue."But then we were left with no airline," said McDaniel.
