ORANGE, Calif. - As Amtrak prepares for the busiest travel period of the year, the company is adding railcars and requiring reservations for passengers. Due to increased crowds for holiday travel, Amtrak is encouraging passengers to plan ahead and book early. Reservations will be mandatory between Wednesday, Nov. 27 and Monday, Dec. 2. Metrolink and COASTER passes will not be accepted onboard Pacific Surfliner trains during this time, however Amtrak monthly and 10-ride passes may still be used. Additionally, the Rail 2 Rail program will be suspended during these dates. The Pacific Surfliner route travels between San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo. It offers a total of 26 trains a day between Los Angeles and San Diego. All Pacific Surfliner trains feature reclining seats, power outlets, Wi-Fi, bike and luggage racks, and a cafe that offers food and drinks, including alcoholic beverages. Coach tickets guarantee a space on the train while Business class passengers are guaranteed a seat. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A message threatening African-Americans was found in a men’s bathroom at MiraCosta College in Oceanside, college police said Friday.The discovery was made Thursday afternoon in a stall of the restroom on the second floor of the Oceanside campus library, according to police. The exact nature of the threat was not released.College Police, Oceanside Police and the FBI received the report of a hate crime, officials said. The subject of the crime is unknown.Police are asking for anyone with information to call 760-795-6640. (KGTV) - A North County mom is giving thanks as she searches for the "roadside angels" who came to her family's side after a car crash.Aleisha Sargent was behind the wheel with her two kids — 10-year-old Calli and her 7-year-old brother Tyson — in the middle row of the van last Thursday. They stopped at the intersection of Ridge Road and Lake Blvd. when Sargent says her light turned green, a car ran a red light and broadsided her."Just taking my two youngest children to school around 7:30 that morning," said Sargent. "Spun in the middle of the intersection, almost 180 degrees ... My glasses flew off. Couldn't see my kids, which was scary. Calli was asking what was happening. She called 911 ...
