GLENDORA, Calif. (CNS) - A chase suspect who allegedly stole drills led authorities on an over two-hour pursuit Tuesday afternoon from Glendora to downtown Los Angeles, at one point stopping at a gas station to fill up his tank. The chase started about 4:10 p.m. after the suspect allegedly stole drills from The Home Depot store located at 1305 S. Lone Hill Ave., according to Lt. James De Mond of the Glendale Police Department.By 5:10 p.m., the suspect was in the unincorporated Avocado Heights area near Industry, where he pulled into a gas station near Valley Boulevard and Santa Mariana Avenue. It appeared that one person ran from the vehicle, and the driver stood outside the vehicle for a couple of minutes before getting back inside and driving westbound on Valley Boulevard.Shortly after, the suspect pulled into another gas station near Valley Boulevard and Peck Road, and ran inside the store to apparently pay for gasoline. He pumped gas briefly then got back onto Valley Boulevard. He drove on multiple freeways throughout the pursuit, including the Long Beach (710), San Bernardino (10), Pomona (60) and Santa Ana (101) freeways, where he exited at Fourth Street and drove into downtown Los Angeles. It was not immediately clear what happened to the suspect after he entered downtown Los Angeles about 6:20 p.m. 1331

Hazards created by Hawaii's Kilauea volcano have spawned a lot of questions from the public. How long will this last? Is it safe to be on Big Island right now? Can I roast marshmallows? The US Geological Survey has been answering those questions on social media. Here's a look at some of them. The questions have been edited for clarity and brevity.Q: Is it safe to roast marshmallows over volcanic vents?USGS: Erm...we're going to have to say no, that's not safe. (Please don't try!) If the vent is emitting a lot of SO2 [sulfur dioxide] or H2S [hydrogen sulfide], they would taste BAD. And if you add sulfuric acid (in vog, for example) to sugar, you get a pretty spectacular reaction.Q: Is it safe to be in Hawaii right now?USGS: The eruption at Kilauea right now is impacting a small portion of the Big Island. Lava flows are active on the eastern tip of the island, in lower Puna, and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is closed due to the small explosions occurring at Kilauea's summit. But the Island of Hawaii is made up of 5 volcanoes, and only Kilauea is erupting.Even if there were to be a change in activity at Kilauea, it would not impact Hilo or Kailua-Kona (the largest towns on the island), which are located on different volcanoes. The biggest impacts might be vog, but that has been a persistent issue on the island for decades. You can actually get real-time vog information at sites around the island from the Hawaii Department of Health at http://www.hiso2index.info/. 1493

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Comedian Bill Cosby has won the right to fight his 2018 sexual assault conviction before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The 82-year-old Cosby has been imprisoned in suburban Philadelphia for nearly two years after a jury convicted him of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman in 2004. He's serving a three- to 10-year sentence. The Supreme Court has agreed to review two aspects of the case that Cosby's lawyers challenge. The first involves the judge's decision to let prosecutors call five other accusers. And the court will examine Cosby's argument that he had an agreement with a former prosecutor that he'd never be charged. 663

Hillsborough County (Florida) Sheriff's Office has released video record on May 30 that shows hundreds of looters breaking into a Tampa Walmart.Deputies are asking for the public's help to find some of the suspects who they say stole more than 0,000 in merchandise. It happened on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at 9:10 p.m. Authorities say a crowd gathered in front of a Walmart in Tampa. The store was closed due to the protests occurring outside the University Mall.People wielding blunt objects, like hammers, broke the glass entrance doors and stormed into the store. After reviewing surveillance video, detectives believe about 200 people entered the store and most began looting the electronics section. An estimated 6,000 in merchandise and damages was reported."Not only is this violence completely unacceptable, it was disrespectful to the protesters who were out there that night trying to express their message in an impactful way," said Sheriff Chad Chronister.
