SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Fans packed the SDCCU Stadium for the Navy Notre Dame game, the focus for San Diegans revolving not on the friendly rivalry but the fight over what will happen to the landmark."This game is a big game and could be the last game here," Darren Hopkins, 13, said sitting next to his dad in the first row.Saturday night was the ninety-second game between Navy and Notre Dame and the crowd was very supportive of both sides."My dad's in the Navy but we're also big Notre Dame fans, so we're kinda split between," Darren said.The stadium hosted it's first football game in 1967, and fans tell 10News they love watching football here."It's good to see good football back in San Diego, I already miss the Chargers games and all the activities but it's really good to see there's some sports fans still here and they can fill the stadium it's really nice," Dan Hopkins said."A lot of energy here a lot of history here really wish the chargers were still in town but they're not, voting on Soccer City in November," San Diego local Kyle Uminger said.Both measures on the ballot call for a new stadium, either for San Diego State, or a soccer expansion team.Fans wish there was another option."I think that there's still so much spirit left in San Diego for a sports team, especially football, the entire stadium is filled up and it's just super loud and everyone is excited," Darren said.The vote will happen November 6th, 2018. 1480

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Family members are offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest in the shooting death of Victor Vega.On May 28, 2016, San Diego Police officers responding to a shooting in the 8300 block of Brookhaven Road in the Skyline area found Vega lying on the street with gunshot wounds. Officers and medics began life-saving measures, but Vega died at the scene. 398

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Family, friends and fellow Airmen gathered to pay a final salute to a San Diego Air Force pilot killed in a training accident last month. Second Lieutenant Travis Wilkie was buried with full military honors today at Miramar National Cemetery. It was a somber scene as a horse-drawn carriage arrived with the casket carrying the 23-year-old graduate of the Air Force Academy in Colorado. Wilkie's parents, sister, and new wife, Peyton looked on as members of the Base Honor Guard escorted the flag-draped coffin. Two T-38 Talon jets were landing in formation when something went wrong. Wilkie excelled in everything he did. He was a standout baseball player and honors student at La Jolla Country Day School. He continued playing ball and setting records at the Air Force Academy. He graduated from the academy in 2018 and was just weeks away from getting his wings, according to a statement by the family. Wilkie and his girlfriend had just married in October. Peyton is also in the Air Force. Military officials say it could be a couple of months before they know what caused the crash. 1308

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Former KUSI anchor Sandra Maas is suing the station for million, alleging retaliatory termination and violation of the Equal Pay Act. Maas’ attorneys claim McKinnon Broadcasting Company and the company's actions “have caused, and will continue to cause, Maas emotional distress and loss of earnings."Maas was hired by KUSI in 2004 as a morning news co-anchor. In 2010, she was promoted to evening co-anchor. The lawsuit states Maas initiated additional duties for herself in 2016 when she started writing, producing and anchoring a weekly segment called “Healthy Living.” In 2017, court documents say Maas suspected she was underpaid compared to her male peers. The lawsuit claims her suspicions were confirmed when a former manager told her a male co-anchor was being paid ,000 more than her per year. The lawsuit states that in December of 2017, Maas brought up the issue of pay inequity during contract negotiations and “was given the runaround.” After sending a written complaint to her manager and the station’s general manager, Mike McKinnon Jr., the lawsuit says McKinnon told Maas he “did not like the tone of [her] email.”The last few paragraphs of the lawsuit claim failure to provide equal pay to women, gender and/or age discrimination, failure to prevent discrimination, and retaliation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - For the first time in decades, the Port of San Diego is putting forth a comprehensive update to its master plan. A port spokesperson says the effort began in 2013 and has been a very thoughtful and open process. However, some residents in the county are just learning about the plan. In April, the Port published a more than 300-page draft of the master plan. "Ninety percent of the people that we speak to had no idea that this plan had been put forth. We have been out at the local grocery stores, going door-to-door, we've been posting here on the path because these are the places where we're going to reach the people who use this area the most," said Cameron Lilley, a lifelong Point Loma resident. Lilley has significant concerns with Shelter Island proposals, including:Up to 1600 new hotel rooms70,000 square feet of retail and restaurant spaceRemoving private and historic docks"Parking is a huge issue already, bringing more tourism to this area will negatively impact the residents who live and use it," said Lilley.On Tuesday she was joined by family and friends at La Playa Trail, encouraging people to give feedback to the Port by the July 31 deadline. They've created a group, Save Point Loma, to try and educate the community. "We're all out here united in this cause," said Lilley.The Port says it has been very transparent throughout the entire process, not only making the draft available to the public but holding community meetings. A spokesperson tells 10News they've used social media, the radio, and community paper ads to try and get people involved. And the Port says it wants to hear from the community moving forward. After receiving initial feedback, they will continue to hold community meetings and will later put forth a revised draft. The comment period for the Master Plan draft goes through July 31.
