SEATTLE, United States, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping wrapped up his trip to Seattle Thursday, the first stop in his first state visit to the United States, which has been focused on building stronger economic links and closer business cooperation between the world's two largest economies.
The free trade agreement the two sides signed in June is expected to take effect soon as it is currently undergoing approval procedures in both countries.
The Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, proposed by Xi in 2013, are aimed at reviving the ancient trade routes that span Asia, Africa and Europe.
"In the Asia-Pacific, China and the United States are both extremely important for the regional countries. Southeast Asian countries don't want to pick a side between the two powers, since the trade relations with China and security cooperation with the United States are both vital for them," Peter Cai, a China expert of News Corp. Australia, told Xinhua.
MAS Managing Director Ravi Menon noted that 2015 has been a fruitful year for financial cooperation between Singapore and China. The initiatives announced at JCBC on Tuesday are a testament to the excellent relations between the two sides.
