SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego's first nonstop flights to Montreal will begin in summer of 2020, according to Canadian airline Air Transat.The airline announced Tuesday it will launch direct flights between Montreal, Quebec, and San Diego next summer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – San Diego State University kicked off its 2020-21 school year Monday with almost all classes online in an attempt to keep students safe and prevent the spread of the coronavirus.While most classes are virtual this fall semester, there are many students who are still living on campus or having to go to school for other matters.Normally, SDSU would have about 7,500 students living on campus. As of the start of this school year, that number is down to 2,600.In addition to the lower number of students living on campus, the university created strict rules for moving in and having guests.The school is trying a positive messaging approach and hoping they can avoid outbreaks similar to what has happened at other colleges in the U.S.ABC 10News learned one SDSU student tested positive for the virus last week and is in self isolation.SDSU fraternities have imposed their own ban on social events this fall, and all recruitment events will be virtual with no in-person interaction.Fall sports have also been postponed due to the pandemic.The university is not testing students who arrive on campus, but testing is available on site.If students test positive or are exposed to COVID-19, SDSU has a detailed isolation and quarantine plan in place.As if having to deal with the pandemic wasn’t enough for SDSU -- students ABC 10News talked to weren't aware of the nationwide Zoom outages Monday, as classes were just beginning, and the school did not immediately responded as to whether the issues affected any of the first day's classes. 1562

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego's museums received a glimmer of hope following the reveal of California's new guidance.That's because San Diego County was placed in the second tier, "substantial." Now, several businesses will have to opportunity to reopen, as they did in June, with modifications indoors.The San Diego Air and Space Museum announced it plans to reopen on Monday. When the museum reopened in June, staff implemented safety policies including capacity limits, social distancing, facemasks for guests and employees, hand sanitizer stations, and continuous cleaning. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — SeaWorld San Diego welcomed several adorable birds to the flock this week, well, "flamboyance."The park welcomed seven Caribbean flamingo chicks to the mix, ranging from 2 to 11 days old, recently.The birds have entered breeding season, SeaWorld says, and cute gray, fluffy newborns will be available to see at Flamingo Cove.RELATED: SeaWorld offers Inside Look as additional experienceFlamingo eggs incubate for about 28 days before hatching, according to the park. Both the male and female take turns sitting on top of the nest to incubate the egg.Once hatched, both parents feed the chick by producing a secretion called, "crop milk."While flamingos are known for the bright pink feathers, they are born with gray or white down feathers.
